re: '69 F350 project
Scored me a couple goodies up in San Antonio at the Pick-N-Pull! One thing I snagged was the wiper delay switch out of a '78- thats gonna be nice in the drizzle.
What I'm really proud of, though, is the under-dash AC unit I found. It was in a '72 F100. Made by "Clardy" out of Ft Worth, TX. Its a fairly compact unit that has 3 vents- I'd say its about 24" or so.
For some reason, I can't get my pics to load into the computer. Once I get that resolved, I'll post some pics of that AC unit.

46stude,
Any progress? Haven't heard from you in a while. I have a disc brake front end now. I hope to start messing around with the parts to see how everything will go together. I have parts truck that I can use to experiment with before I take my '70 apart. I'll take and share pics.

re: '69 F350 project
Well, things changed dramatically in early '07. I ended up w/ an '82 F600 deisel winch truck, so I decided to cancel the '69 F350 project. I tried selling the '69, tried parting it out, & even considered scrapping it.
What I decided was.... none of the above. I have a '46 Studebaker pick-up project that I just never have been able to get off the ground. I must have had a dozen different plans for it, a couple different frames, & about 3,000 various engine plans.
Then one day I had a thought (which was suprising, since those are so rare for me)- why not build a 1 ton Studebaker? The '69 frame was 34" wide, the original Stude's was 34". All it would take was a simple chop of the frame to shorten it up to the desired wheelbase. I figured "why the heck not?".
So the project is well underway now. I'm still gonna run the EFI 300-6, although I think I may do a rebuild on the C6 I have & make it bullet-proof for towing instead of running the ZF 5 speed. I do have an F600 for those real big towing needs, so the C6 should be just fine for hauling a camper trailer or a loaded 20' trailer. One of the main reasons I'm considering the C6 is space- this old Stude is tiny inside!
So there you have it- an interesting project in my opinion. Most old Studes get restored or street-rodded. When was the last time you saw someone build a dually out of a classic '40s truck?
I have a bunch of pics in my build thread over on the Studebaker forum site I help moderate. Rather than take up a bunch of Keith's bandwidth here, I'll post a link to that thread & you can see more pics if you're interested:

I have told anyone who has asked about a tow vehicle and what I would want it to be, that a dodge or stude dually would be it. So in that respect, your building a SICKKKK tow rig!

I'm legnthening the bed and shortening the wheelbase.ima71 trucks are older wrote:Nice project. I'd lengthen the bed rather then shorten the wheelbase, but thats just me.
The stock WB for my Stude was 112", & the '69 was 134", and the WB I'm going to run is 120". So I had to lop out 14" of the frame, & I will have to add 8" or so to the bed.
The Stude cab is much smaller than the bumpside cab. In order to keep it proportionate, I had to shorten up the WB.
