re: Pipe's Bump
Thanks guys! The chains were actually used to hold the engine down. When I first noticed them when I bought them I figured they used them for torque..but after looking closer and a few comments from the previous owner, seems the chains were put on after the crappy weld job they did on the stands broke, and instead of fixing them or bolting the stands to the frame(way off the holes anyway) then chained it before he sold it. So I guess they can be considered as part torque straps and part idiot mount. Right now I'm debating if I want to keep the 460 and put it in right,or find a fe motor to put in the truck. It was originally a 360 with automatic. Basically it all depends on what I can afford on the small budget I'm working on. If I do keep the 460, I need to find some stands and mounts, oil pan,oil pickup, and a few other odds and ends. Plus different time set , 69 or older to wake up the retarted motor. Course I always have the choice of sticking in a 302. I have the old engine out of my mustang that runs great..I just need some pulleys and maybe a c4, unless I use the 347and tranny thats in the stang now..to many choices and to many spiderwebs and not much else in the wallet..

I vote for keeping the 460, but putting it in there right.

re: Pipe's Bump
looks like thats what I'm going to be doing. I need to get movign on the truck and dont have the time or money to search out a small block tranny, the pulleys and the radiator for the 302. I might have a lead on a pan and pickup for free and the mounts are still being looked into. As it is now unless something falls into my lap the 460 stays

I posted some pics in the engine forum as some of you mentioned before that it would be neat to see some olds 60s racing 6cyl parts.. I will post everything in here as we uncover all the boxes and parts that have been sitting for 35 years. And yes..it looks like the 300 racing6 is going into the bump..and if everything goes well the webers will be going with it as well..at least everynow and then

re: Pipe's Bump
As far as putting the 460 in there right, you just need mounts and towers from a 78/79 truck that had the 460. I sold a set three months ago for about $70. I might have posted this before, but the mounts/towers can also be had from PAW and LMC.
A pre-72 chain will work just fine. When I de-smog a smogger 460, I get a timing set from a 70 Mark III, a performer intake, holley 750 and headers. That will always wake them up real nice.

re: Pipe's Bump
well I guess its time for another update. Things been kinda busy but I get an hour here or there and most of it was sanding the truck.Im halfway done sanding!!I guess the biggest thing I did was to yank the engine and tranny out this past weekend.gives me alittle more room so I can sand the front of the cab.Of course after reading how great easy off works, I couldnt resist spraying a couple of cans on the frame and engine compartment. That was nearly as bad as the rest of the body. half adozen coats of paint and the easy off took it down to the base color it seems.Another reason I couldnt wait to get the engine out was so I could check out what other surprises the previous owner left for me. First off the bolts for the stands were hand tight where he couldnt reach them. I just shook my head at that and got the backho over and pulled the whole thing out. then degreesed some, until I ran out of the half of can I had sprayed it down and starting looking over the frame horns and the hole the PO cut in the crossmember to drain the oil.A few more shakes of the head and I decided it was time for some updates for ya guys.
No Engine!!
some of the quick primer I sprayed on not looking to shabby me thinks
Got to love this guys genius..poor defenseless bump,. I should run him over for this
tons of sandpaper..
not looking to to bad..
ok Thinking bout painting it to match this
'
anyway..I gotta get this finished up with the sanding so I can get it over a friends house to start the real body work! Updates hopefully coming up sooner..
By the way..A guy at work has been checking out this site.. He doesnt have a bump but a 49 ford pick up.. I pretty sure its close enough to the next best thing as a bump so if ya guys dont mind..give Duffy a yell to join will yas?!He's following the post.. and he is good people!

Lookin' good pipes! Hopefully someday I get to see it in person.
You heading to Englishtown this weekend? I wish I could, but I'm not going to be able too. My son has a double header on Saturday (fallball Little League)

I plan on being there. I usually do go in the spring. That's when you get a free coffee mug. Here is a pic from this past spring.

Thanks Marz,
I'm going to get alot of crap from the wife but I may have stumbled on an old falcon to fit that six in.. If so the 460 goes back in the truck.. why does all this stuff happen as soon as I make up my mind..and then makes me change it
