Maybe it's just me, but looking at the pictures, I don't believe I see the pistons out of the drums.
If that's the case, you've probably got some hard/leaking seals in the drums that allow the fluid to seep by.
I've owned and/or serviced many Ford trucks with C6 tranny's, and I know for a fact that the seals are notorious for getting brittle. This is especially true of the forward clutch. Try cranking the thing up and getting it to move in a forward direction on a cold morning, and see how long it takes for the tranny to engage!!!
My 70 Ranger XLT is suffering from this now, but as long as I can get it to move for the next few months, I'll live with it, because I plan to tear it down next spring for a full frame-off resto.
