Can't forget that all time classic that starts ' out of San Pedro late one night, and the moon and stars were shining bright' :D
'Course no 'shorts' were mentioned in that song except for the implication that there might have been a search for clean ones after that ride...

well he edited his post before i posted the first time. but what i was saying was rod like in hot rod. and the duece coupe in american graffiti came to my mind. even thought the song was about other cars.

ok i asked around the net. and someone said it was your ride. another person said it was a car and interchangable for the word kemp . kemp meaning customized car from 1936-1959. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kemp

thats cool ford ,,but short is interchangable for kemp? mmm still I'm not sure but !!!!! alot of old sayings are said little to not at all any more,, I keep some alive ,,need to ask the beach boys on what they met lol ( I think one or two )

did'nt get a straight anwser other the that they was saying two sharks and the stingrays vettes where called sharks( the only ones that were nicknamed sharks.. where the 68-82 vettes and this song was wrote long before 68!! lol)

Back in my high school days(early 6o's) a short meant a hot rod,modelA or a 32 Ford with a souped up engine.Twice pipes were dual exhausts a convertible was a drop top that is what we called them in Chi-Town.

OK so after asking the question about what’s a “short”. I dug into my vinyl collection and pulled out some Beach Boys and guess what. They mention “short” in another song Cherry Coupe.

The wildest short around is my cherry, cherry coupe
