Ok. Now to threadjack ;)
Mom's boyfriend wants to pick up a supply of hay before winter. There's a farmer in Idaho about 10 miles from the Canadian border (about a 50 mile trip) selling it for $115/ton if you buy 5 tons or more at once. Can my truck pull 5 tons of hay on a 16' bumper pull flatbed? The trailer can handle the load and has electric brakes. My truck doesn't have a controller though. The main thing I'm worried about is a 6% downgrade at 2 miles long. Everything else is uphill or small.

My truck:

360 and C6
Dana 60 3.73
Power steering, power front discs

Bad idea..... there are some, this is one. I "CAN" shoot myself in the face, but that would also, be a bad idea. :)

I wouldn't do it without the brakes hooked up.

Most bumper hitches are only rated for 3500 lbs,
and a lot of frame hitches are only rated for 8-10 thousand.

6 percent grade for 2 miles will heat up a big rigs brakes with a full load. I bet it would fry an F100's brakes down to molten metal especially if you missed a gear.

It's an under bumper receiver hitch.
I guess we'll be doing two trips :)
