i bought a what i was told a complete top to bottom rebuilt 390 and tore it down to make sure it was put together proper turned out wrong size bearings for the mains and rods.i had the heads dipped to make sure they were good and with the paint gone it showed that one of the intake ports was jb weled so my advice is pull it apart

wow floyd that is unfortunate. When buying things like engines and other expensive parts in definatly a buyer beware market. It was good that you were able to find the defects and correct them before you took the time to install into your truck. After I discovered it was a 352cid engine and not a 390 like I was told that pretty much sealed the deal on whether I should disasemble or not. As much as I didnt want to "rebuild" it would the the "right" thing to do.
