Ditto, I get this weekly about my '68 Ranchero. Heck, it's the only one on the road within 50 miles now. The first thing I did when I bought it back in '92 was grind all the putty out of the qtr's and just paint it flat black. To think that 18 years later it's still on the road still in about the same shape. It's my rolling parts car. I added the factory bucket seats and console, the sport mirrors, the scoop, the EFI 302 and 5 speed, the 8" 3.55 traction lock, the disc brakes and power steering and kep the old air shocks so it will carry a load too.
If I were to restore the Filthy Beast,1st I would need to rename it 2nd some fool would run into it.

I have a resto project ongoing right now but I started with a truck that wasn't running or drivable. I love jumping into my other bump that runs, turning the key, and hearing the stock 360 come to life. It is a work/driver. It is dented and the paint is faded but it runs good and drives and I can haul whatever I want on the flatbed! Drive that bump and love it!
CHEESE?!?
Running:
2012 Ford Focus SE hatchback
2007 F-150 XLT Supercrew 4.6 Auto
1972 F-350 Flatbed 360 2V 4 speed
Not Running:
1967 F-100 Ranger Short Bed
1970 F-100 Ranger Long Bed
1972 F-100 Ranger XLT long Bed
1972 F-350 Really long dump flatbed parts truck
1981 F-250 Custom Long Bed (Parting out now)
I do take care of my truck, and I do replace parts as needed. I really like the feel and even the smell of my ole Ford. I just hate all of the people who want to tell me what I should do with my truck. Thanx for the replies, I will use a few of them to stop their stupid line of questioning. I can never think fast enough to give them a smart-a$$ed reply. (especially like the one about sponsering the resto.)
If I had the time and money I'd like to do a frame off resto, but with a wife, 4 chillen, and a dog, I just don't have the time and money. Whatever money I have goes into keepin' the family and truck going strong.

1970 F-250: No mods, no resto. Just gonna drive it!
When my dad was in college he always wanted an Alfa Romeo. He finally decided to "go for it" and bought a 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider. He bought somebody else's "resto project". The body was on a rotisserie at that time waiting to be sandblasted. The project started taking to long so he bought a running Alfa to drive around.
He finally finished the Giulia project, only because he retired and has more time. The body sat on a rotisserie in his shop for 15 years. No telling how long it had been a project before he bought it. Yes, he now has a new looking 1963 car that is concours quality, but he seldom drives it. The whole thing started because he wanted a nice car to drive as his daily driver.

How many times have you heard - "Havn't you finished that truck yet?" Mostly from those who have no idea as to what it actually takes to complete one of these projects.
