I'm getting nearly the same download speed on my laptop over wireless and wired, so it is quite possible that the ADSL itself is the bottleneck, I've got the TIVO hooked up and networked via 802.11n so we will try it, I don't expect we will actually try to stream any movies so as long as they will download in a reasonable time it'll be O.K.
My Router is a dual band and it actually has 2 separate internal routers, its intended to run computers on 2.4ghz 802.11n and media on 5.0ghz 802.11n so if the computers seem to be slowing the download down appreciably I can set it up that way (right now the 2.4 is turned off to minimize interference).
To adress a few of the ideas, we don't have crown moldings or a basement, although we've discussed putting in crown moldings and we'll be doing the floor during the summer so that is an idea, the house is on a slab so there won't ever be basement access.

Right now, unless there is a performance issue we will stick with the wireless n.
