The Mitchell campers were built by "Mitchell and Sons" from the early 60's through the mid 80's. They were built in a factory in Commerce City, Colorado. During the 70's, they were the main manufacturers of campers, fifth wheels, and class C motorhomes in Colorado. They were very well built, heavy, and each one was ordered from the factory. My dad owned 2 during his life time on his Ford F250's. A Mitchell camper actually made the cover of the 1973 Ford "Recreational Vehicle" guide/sales brochure which is amazing for a small, local family owned manufacturer. They went out of the RV business and today the grandsons build modular homes and deck kits. There are still some old Mitchells running around Colorado and a loyal following. I guess I like them because they bring me back some very fond memories of my dad and family growing up with those old Fords and Mitchells. What makes them kind of cool is that they were usually painted to match the pickups that they sat on. The pics of the campers on this thread are kind of cool because they were built and matched to the Fords and were never separated.1972hiboy wrote:Where were these Mitchells made?
