Re: sir, id like to offer you a 2012 for that old truck u got,
not a chance- 20 yrs ago i blew about 2 months pay (which really wasn't very much) on my ol' pig (my first car),in the years since then i've put way too much money into it (at least $40 thou, not including fuel) & it still looks like crap and needs work done to it........
i'm sure i could get at least $500 from the scrap yard for it - but there's too many memories and stupid crazy stories of my youth to tell that involve that old pelter to give up on it now

See that is me for my 63 Chevy, been in the family since new, my first ride when I was born was in this car. So no. But for the bump which I love if it was a 350 with diesel then yes and when that deal was done go out and find another bump to put together. At least I could tow it home with my new pickup

Re: sir, id like to offer you a 2012 for that old truck u got,
Everything I own other than my dog... is for sale if the price is right. Even my 71 which still has the factory paint on it and the new motor that I have yet to run in would go in a heart beat for a new 2012. Let's see... a truck worth anywhere from 30,000 to 50,000 vs. a truck that'd be lucky to sell for 10,000 despite all the money I have in it... no brainer.
Sell the new one and buy a fleet of bumps.
Actually I'd probably by a replacement bump that's in great shape and a Ford Motorsport crate motor part No. M-6007-521RT to drop into it and an old Deere or two...

but seriously
there is no value in something with a big shiney price tag. Although i would love the money used to purchase the 2012 as i could outfit atleast 3 or 4 Bumps with that money.

Re: sir, id like to offer you a 2012 for that old truck u got,
Well...I really don't know how to put this without sounding like an jerk. So here goes anyway. I have a new truck, I can also afford to buy another new truck if I wished..jerk part over.
All it would be is another new truck to sit and grow moss while I drive around in my rusted out bump. In example, I was having a get together at my place a few weeks ago, to make more parking room, I drove my 71 off to the side where I have my car trailer parked. It had sat there for about an hour when I started worrying about the bazillion year old oak tree dropping a big limb on it or something. So, I moved the new truck under the tree and parked the 71 where the new truck was, because I just don't care if the new one gets mashed flat.
Money is nice and I like it, but a few things I have are not valued in terms of how much green paper it could be traded for.

Re: sir, id like to offer you a 2012 for that old truck u got,
Ive never bought a new vehicle. Could never justify the payment for something that drops in value like a brick. Ive bought most of mine as year old dealer loaners but then again I know the Ford sales guy well enough to know what Im getting at half the value of a new one. My parents always buy new and so do my grandparents but they pay it in full with cash. Must be nice.
I did buy a new Harley and watch it plummet to worthless so that was enough for me.

Re: sir, id like to offer you a 2012 for that old truck u got,
Obvioulsy if there is sentimental value on a truck because of a loved one or memories of childhood, then something that is tangable is going to be hard to put a price on.I have my grandfathers truck in storage that I have great memories in and couldnt sell it and not be upset with myself for any amount of money. However on the other side of the coin, if your struggling out there and have a bump because it was inexpensive and somebody offered you, say a comparible 50k brand new f250 truck I dont think your going to say no. It would be dumb not to. That said, my opinion....I have a newer superduty diesel f250. its a nice truck, low mileage and clean and its ready for whenever I want it. I also have my 72 f250 4x4. I use my bump 90 percent of the time I drive one of my personal vehicles. I work with it on the weekends cutting firewood or hauling that I dont want to use my newer truck for. in turn by bump most reflects my personality because im always on the move and usually working, so in a way I have grown somewhat sentimental of it. however if somebody offered me a brand new 2012 truck I would take it. I would be dumb not to. I would however most likely want to sell it and pocket most of the money and invest a good chunk into my 72 crewcab project. I have no use for a brand new truck but I wouldnt turn it down. Thats my opinion that Im going to throw into the lot.

Re: sir, id like to offer you a 2012 for that old truck u got,
Exactly, it's not the "bump" with me, it's what that thing means to me. I have other bumps, most of which I would trade for a lap dance and a six pack of schlitz malt liquor.
