No 5.0 for me. The 3.9 is pretty darned quick. I guess I'll have to see how it fares vs. a newer stang sooner or later.

Both the Ranchero and my '93 stang are getting retired.

Ive been looking at getting one lately, looked at a few, and didnt like the fact i couldnt get a V8 with a stick, only an auto. ive since been looking at 03-05 (i think is the body style) Jetta GLI's and 00-05 bmw 3 series sedans and wagons. ive seen VERY nice 3 series in that body style go for $5k.

I considered other makes but didn't like starting the learning curve all over again. I was never real impressed with the German or Swedes Teutonic mysterious pictorial labeling of switches. I deal with that crap at work, didn't want to on the commute.

Currently waiting for the bank to get their network working well enough to print out my loan papers. I was supposed to get the car last night but the bank wouldn't release the check without all the correct signatures on the correct pieces of paper...

Good morning Jamie, too bad about the bank! Looking forward to your report after you've put a few miles on it.

I was peeved because the wife doesn't like to drive out of her comfort zone (locally). The car was about 15 miles away in WV so I told her to use her social networking skills to get someone to substitute for her. :)

Car's home, averaged 27mpg on the interstate at 70mph. Very comfortable and smooth running. Stopped at my friends shop and got it inspected. Not a leak or spot of rust on the underside. It had new Uniroyal Tiger Paw shoes and almost new rotors. The exhaust is very simple and will be getting replaced pretty quickly. Buddy said that at $7700 it was a pretty good deal.

The sounds system is pretty amazing and it's neat to have the navigation running. I put it up in the yard but the wife just reminded me that I missed lunch and she wants to take it out to eat for supper.

That looks excellent! 27 seems fantastic for a powerful and comfortable car.

27 is very good for a car of that size and power, it is probably fairly light, the hood deck lid and fenders are aluminum, IR RC the roof and doors are as well on at least some of them.

OT Warning: to the fella looking at BMW's and GLI's. The BMW is the better car in those year ranges. Parts for both are quite expensive and there is a better network of suppliers of quality parts for the BMW. Buy the best one you can find/afford. If you could find a MKIV GLI in your price range it is a superb car but I think 2008 was the first year for the GLI.

Very nice! I've always liked the looks of these cars. I too thought real hard about buying one on a few occasions. I bet it sounds killer with a good exhaust on it!

Been tinkering a bit... 2.25" X pipe to 2.5" mids out to Pype's race pro mufflers makes for a very mellow sounding system.
