Re: Bump Respect
i've had trash dumped off in my truck before, but usually i can't tell because it blends in with the rest of the crap i'm saving up for the next dump-run
...my truck's been called a POS for most of the 20+ yrs i've owned it,in fact its kind of a shock that lately people actually give me thumbs up and want to check the ol' pig out
...the ol' pigs never been vandalized either.....well unless a big lipsticky kiss mark on the rearview and some panties on the shifter count...not really sure what happened there they just showed up sometime ,whether my own alcohol etc consumption were involved or what exactly was going on there so i don't really count it as vandalism...just as really hard to explain to the old lady...

Wouldn't it be funny if it were her just watching you try to squirm your way around it? The trash thing doesn't happen much to me anymore & it has never happened with the bump but it does seem people see a pickup truck bed as a public trash can.Whateverman wrote:the ol' pigs never been vandalized either.....well unless a big lipsticky kiss mark on the rearview and some panties on the shifter count...not really sure what happened there they just showed up sometime ,whether my own alcohol etc consumption were involved or what exactly was going on there so i don't really count it as vandalism...just as really hard to explain to the old lady...

Re: Bump Respect
Most of you have seen photos of my truck. It isn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination. My '63 Unibody is even uglier. However, I've never found random trash in the bed of either truck.
I've had the "63 for almost 30 years. I paid $50 for it in 1985. I don't recall anyone ever saying anything derogatory about it. I also don't place too much value on the opinion of those that I do not know
As far as seeing someone throw a trash bag in the bed of my truck? Nowadays, I'd prolly just set it on the hood of their car. Years ago, I'd have prolly reacted differently

Re: Bump Respect
Most of my friends and family tease me and make fun of my old POS. Just seems rather funny though, whenever they need a truck or they break down, I'm the first one they call. Hence, the signature line.

Re: Bump Respect
You would think that people would respect that they still drive? Look at my friend greg's 1999 Yukon. It in all reality, like most trucks made today, are meant to last 10-15 years so the car market will continue. It has power steering pump issues, steering issues, transmission issues, fuel issues, and others, all in the last 2-3 years. While our trucks are MADE TO LAST, and I can't get anybody to understand that, they don't realize how little our trucks really needed work in the 70s and 80s, and they were still chugging along.
And I'll say it right now, if someone offered me a brand new ford truck for mine, I would probably turn it down, I promised myself of all vehicles I have, I will not get rid of that one.
Anyway, all this has boosted my esteem, thanks guys.

Same here. My ex hated my '90 & would constantly bite on it. One day she ran out of gas & called for help. I have never seen a happier face than when that ever so hated truck rolled up.sargentrs wrote:Most of my friends and family tease me and make fun of my old POS. Re: Bump Respect
Exact reason, (besides funding) I haven't painted BC #16 as I'd blow a gasket when they dinged the door after I painted it!
No...they have no respect for our old trucks because daddy got them the new beemer.
Dustin, wish many days I had the lift and D-60 under the front. What was once traffic would then be speed-bumps!

Plus, especially with the college kid crowd it's fashionable to knock anything that isn't "green" or is perceived as destructive to the environment... while they go around calling for hybrids and electrics that have only a few year lifespan, and often are recharged on less than green energy. Me, I like my old ass truck, because just like the old dirty VW busses the local moonbats like to drive, it will be around forever.
