Re: BobbyFord Short Bed
I got my calipers back from the plater today. Yellow zinc. This company plates for the aerospace industry and does not plate auto parts. They used to plate auto parts but the head guy said that the auto parts are too dirty and contaminate his vats. He did these calipers for me because I cleaned them in acid before I brought them in for plating.
I seriously couldn't be happier with the way they turned out. Bye bye rust.

How about links to the M/C and prop valve, Bobby? I haven't been able to nail those down yet. If you choose 'em, I know they're right! Great to see you back on her.BobbyFord wrote:http://www.tuffstuffperformance.com/ind ... rd8660.htmsykanr0ng wrote:"The aftermarket 8" dual diaphragm booster"

I got the booster, master and prop valve from Summit racing. All three are made by Tuff Stuff Performance. I also got the brake booster linkage kit.
The following part numbers are Summit Racing part numbers (which tend to vary a little from the manufacturer's part numbers.)
Universal brake booster- TFF-2223NB
Master cylinder- DHB-M97934
Proportioning valve- TFF-2302NB
The Tuff Stuff brake components are also available in chrome or black powdercoat.

Spindles are up at the engine shop. They use a wrist pin bushing tool to size my king pin bushings. It is a better method than a reamer.
Meanwhile, I painted my new Moog steering linkage. Rustoleum High Performance enamel is about the best rattle can paint you can buy.

Re: BobbyFord Short Bed
Guy at the engine shop had my spindles for a week before he told me that he didn't have the correct size mandrel to hone and fit my king pins.
I took them to Mark DeGroff and got them back in two days. I'm just waiting for the new caliper pistons to arrive.
I hope to get some of these new parts installed this weekend.

Mr Bobby when replacing king pins do I buy new king pins that is larger and have the spindles reamed to fit the new king pins?
You said "They use a wrist pin bushing tool to size my king pin bushings. It is a better method than a reamer".
When you get time would you explain that so even I can understand it?
I know that is asking the impossible.
The days of buying new king pins and remove the old ones and put in the new ones is a no no ?
Thanks.

The old bushings get pressed out of the spindles and the new bushings get pressed in. The new bushings have a smaller inside diameter than the outside diameter of the new king pins. Most people use a reamer to size the bushings, one at a time.
The wrist pin mandrel is long enough to line hone both bushings in the spindle at the same time. The mandrel is spun by a lathe and utilizes a set of cutting stones. The diameter of the mandrel is adjustable for a more precise fit than reaming. Mine are set at a little under .001"
This is a wrist pin bushing hone...> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ix8nVHMcxdQ
Picture a longer mandrel being used to size both installed bushings in a spindle at the same time.

That's how mine were done too at a local engine builder's. I even got to hold the cutting oil spigot and keep it spread.
