I picked up a rusty but complete 67 Cougar XR7. It was local and the guy was moving so I low balled him at $400. He had it listed in the paper for $600 so I thought that was good number. He said he had another guy coming to look at it so I said ok, and walked off to my car after giving him my number. Next day he called. I drag the thing home w/ plans of fixing it. My daily driver is a standard 68 cougar. I finally decide I have too many project and will never finish any of them if I take this thing on. So I start pulling it apart. In the truck I find two complete consoles w/ the shifters and three complete XR7 dashes. Then I find a box that is labeled compucruise. It is some sort of cruise control for carbed vehicles. It will calculate milage and everything. Very hightech for the time. So I look the thing up and they sell on ebay for $300 almost every week. I sold it last week for $300. The dashes are worth $200 each and the consoles are worth $300 each. That was just the stuff in the trunk. All told this cougar is worth about $500 complete, but in parts it is worth about $3100. Some of the parts I'm keeping for my 68. (like the complete swing away tilt column). I don't come across deals like this everyday, but they are out there.
