Thanks manny I've seen so many different 3G setups out there I'll just have to get in there and see what works for me. Hopefully this weekend I can get some time for it.

Well peeps I finally got to my 3G swap that I've been collecting parts for. I did a bunch more research this morning and just jumped in....and it was actually easy like everyone said. I did have to grind a lot on the alternator and bracket to get it to fit.
Image
Here it is all hooked up. Left all the other wires to make sure I could swap back if it didn't work. I'll probably leave them a few days then start cutting and cleaning up.
Image
Here is the 3G wiring and mega fuse on the firewall.
Image
Here you can see when the key is in the accessory the mega fuse shows battery voltage.
Image
This is with the truck running. I'm pretty happy with how it all went and all the wiring will be able to gut tucked away. The alternator is kinda noisy; hoping it will get better with running it. If not I'll head back to the junk yard and get a different alternator.

AWESOME! That's great you got it running and going. strange she is noisy. Give it and hour or so of run time. If it does not then like you said 3g's are plentiful.

Thanks for all the tips Manny. I just saw your 67 highboy thread and need to see more of it! You can't beat the 4x4s!
The mega fuse I got is super handy cause it's basically a battery tester and alternator tester and it was only 18 bucks!

Well the other day I started cleaning up wires from my 3G swap. Slowly started cutting and rerouting wires. Pulled the voltage regulator and everything connected to it.
Image
Then I started wrapping all the wires to tuck them out of the way.
Image
This past weekend I finally painted my welded door jambs and put the weatherstripping in. the trick is to do a foot at a time let it set up a minute then continue. Also finally mounted my high beam switch... no more reaching down and clicking it by hand at night

Just been cruising around. I've been driving it more than I've been working on it which is kinda nice. Running like a top. Trying to figure out what to do next to it.

Awesome, all the hard work is paying off if your driving more than working on it. Enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Picked up an old fire extinguisher off the interweb and put it in the truck. I think it's a nice vintage look. The extinguisher is actually dated 1969 which is cool. Now my truck should be safe from fire.
