Sorry about the trouble man. This kinda stuff makes me a little uneasy about buying salvaged vehicles. It might be an early 5.0 thing, might not have a thing to do with the car being wrecked, but if this were me, I couldn't make myself buy another wrecked one. I know a lot of guys have good luck with stuff like that, but im the one in 1000 that would get the bad apple. Sucks man, but glad to see you're not stopping with it. Most would be frustrated enough to say p on it.

Sorry for your engine troubles but kudos for diving back in.Just a suggestion but pull the oil pan and see if it is a clearance problem from the wreck.Maybe get lucky and find something cheap to fix on your current engine.Man I hope so,you've come so far I really hope it's an easy fix.Thanks for all the pics. and updates,Calvin

Unfortunately this motor is shot. It is believed that it was something that happened during the accident. I pulled the pan, there are big flakes of bearings in it. Like the size of a q tip.







The engine has excessive end play with an audible clunk when moving it back and forth in the engine. You can feel it with your hands when moving it back and forth.

New Service engine has been ordered from Ford. This will be cam covers to pan, will require my intake, accessories and other stuff but I am just fine with that. Comes with a 3 year warranty.

Motor should be here Wednesday, hope to have it in the truck and ironing out the final details this weekend and putting some miles on it if all goes well.

Oh man....hope that big girl shows up tomorrow.

Got my pre oiler built so I can put all of my oil in through the block and get the new motor nicely oiled up before start up. I popped off a cam cover and rotated the crank over while putting the lube in and sure enough, I had lots of oil coming up onto the cam while rotating it over. Should work sweet on the new engine too.



Now you guys might be laughing but for like $12.00 it works really well. The end of the sprayer is 1/4" so a 1/4" brass coupler and a piece of 1/4" brass pipe and it bolted right where the oil pressure sender was located.

With that done, I had a few things on the interior that were bugging the crap out of me. The dash was still not bolted in so I got that cleaned up and bolted in, its not picture worthy but its in there and I can get a few things buttoned up. Little bit at a time right.

These were bugging the crap out of me. They looked terrible on the newly upholstered seats.



Got my upholstery skills out and got to work on them.

Its all about the little things right??



Looks so much better in my opinion.

Now, do I paint the seat brackets? Wrap them in Vinyl? I have no clue. I need to try and get some carpet dye or something, the copper color is terrible.

It is not perfect but it works for this truck. I would do it differently if I had it to do over again but I like it without the speaker opening in the dash.

Well, motor showed up at Ford around 2 so I headed down there and picked it up. I was pleasantly surprised for once, Not only were all the parts there, on time and they loaded it up for me. They gave me a $300 in store credit after the purchase I was not expecting..

Not to mention the engine came with more parts than expected!! New intake, water pump, idler pulley, motor picking eyes that made our job so much easier. Also came with all the sensors on the engine proper.

Got it home and got it all unloaded....did I mention how nice those picking points were?



We then worked on transfering all of the parts onto the new engine, accessories, alternator, injectors, new Pilot bearing, transmission spacer plate, exhaust manifolds, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. I also pulled the oil pressure switch and ran three quarts of fluid through my pre oiler setup. You could hear the oil making its way back to the oil pan, and pulling the fill cap you could see it running out of the timing gears and the cam. It was pretty neat actually. Rotated the crank shaft while pre oiling as well.



Might just make it to T Hill after all....if I don't it will not be from a lack of effort



Its about ready for the front clip to go back on. I need to swap on a couple of pigtails on the harness for a change in connector at the Cam Solenoid.



I should be pretty close to firing it up tomorrow night.

Off topic a bit, but I have a question about your lighting control. What controls the under dash lighting? Is it a standalone device or something from the donor car?
