In low vacuum situations, there can be positive crankcase pressure that blows fumes out the PCV clean air intake (that is why oil fill caps and air cleaners get greasy). These fumes will get into the cab. It is a pervasive odor that most here are already familiar with. Hawkrod

Ahh... well I guess I can just drill a hole into the air cleaner lid or base and run the hoses in that way. I don't care what it looks like when I'm done.

Many aftermarket air cleaner bases are stamped to allow the installation of a flanged fitting to hook up the hose. :)
