Wow it is amazing that you and your Dad took that on. Wow, my hats off to you.
It will look great when all the work is done. Course if it is a labor of love it is not work, but enjoyment.
I also have a 68 F-250.
Keep on Trucking.....John
Thanks, I really appreciate the compliments.

I also just finished grinding on the other mount and they are both ready for primer and paint.

Is this how it should be, or should it be flat :? Would it be something that is specific to 3/4 ton trucks?
Great work ya'll are doing! Don't see that anybody answered this. Yes, it's supposed to be that way for shock clearance. Keep us updated and keep up the good work!

I though it was for shock clearance, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the kind words, can't wait to start working again :)

Extremely large update! :woohoo:
(well it seems that way for me) Got both of the door posts finished and she is as solid as ever! Did the welding on the left side yesterday, and the right side today. Everything went smoothly other than the on and off down pour for most of the day :x Oh well, at least we got some major work done.

Driver's side
Image
Still have to finish this area. the pieces are made, just need to be welded in.

Pass. Side

We also made some more pieces for the fire wall but i forgot to take pictures of them
Once the cab is finished the front suspension is going to need some tlc

Tomorrow we can get the fire wall patches completely welded in. We had to stop due to down pour and lightning, and the last time I checked, rain + lightning + electrical equipment = very bad...

It could give you a very interesting hair style.
For the front end, here's what I did to my '69 F250:
Disc brake conversion:

Front suspension bushings and king pins:

Thanks for the information on the front suspension. Not sure what I'm going to do at the moment. All I know is that I need to do the suspension work before we can drop the engine in. I can always convert to disc brakes in the future. For now it will probably just be replacing king pins, bushings and shocks.

I've always wanted a picture of my truck when it was brand new. Since the truck was in the family, I thought that there was bound to be some pictures of it hidden in some albums. I did find three pictures, but each one had people blocking certain parts of the truck. I was able to line up each photo though to make it look like one complete picture.

Here is how it would have somewhat looked back in April of 1969 when it was one year old

Image

The picture is not the best due to my wonderful photoshop skills  , but its something

Went junk yarding today :D There was a few bumps at one of the junk yards we went to, but lo and behold, they were defiantly there for a reason. I thought my truck was in bad shape, and these were just falling apart. I almost bought some trim off of one, but decided not to as it was not in the best shape. The only interesting bump that I found was one with Explorer badges. Just wondering if this type of truck is rare? (it's not like the truck was rust free of course, it was worse than mine) When we were searching in another yard I spotted a '78 f150 with some cab lights that I have been looking for and snagged them for $21.

Here is what they look like. It seemed like a good deal to me since there was minimal pitting and only a small crack on one of the lenses

Image

Hope to get some progress done soon before that terrible thing called school takes all of my time away :(

Over the weekend we were able to get the floor pans welded in, and everything is ready to be sealed :hd: . Then i can paint the floor pans and firewall. I was so glad that the cab didn't move when we took the brace out. Won't be able to get much more progress done until the weather starts to agree with my schedule. I really wish there was room in the shop. :(

Here are the floor pans all welded in

It seems so long since we first put the brace in for the cab. It felt so good to finally take it out. Now it looks like a normal cab again :D

That's all I have for now

Got a lot of progress done over the weekend :hd: The cross member under the cab that the seats anchor to were rotted fairly bad where they attach to the rocker.
Here's how they looked like
Image

I only had a pic of the driver's side, but you get the idea
Each side was made out of three pieces and then all welded together.

All welded together

Had to make patches like these for both sides of the cab. Defiantly lots of spot welds to fill

Forgot to get any pictures of them grinded. Tomorrow I'll try to get all the seams from the floor pans caulked after I get the floor of the can ready for some paint

:D Nice work on fabing up the cross members(they do make those replacement pieces)and all the other patches. Glad to see someone else going through the painstaking labor of saving a rusted out old truck  My project required much of what your doing and sometimes it seemed like I was :loco: for dealing with it. Stick with it and be Proud of what you've done to save the Old girl
