Thanks for the comments, it does mean a lot.
jimmy828, Yes you have to cut the top inside corners leaving the chrome trim on the front, then carefully bend the sides out till it is wide enough for the new radio, then fill the corners back in. Here is a little better picture of it, the trim piece that goes around the radio has not been put in because I have to pull it back out of the dash to install the wiring and heat and air.
Stumbled on a fully functional factory a/c system. I thought my a/c didn't work, maybe system empty, cracked open the shop manual, get out the gauges, found that both the valves on the rotolock fittings at the compressor were turned all the way out. Followed the instructions in the shop manual, set them to mid and it's pooping ice cubes from the vents.
It's like Christmas in July.

'Gave the 71 a shakedown run in 95° heat. She runs like a champ and no vapor lock... But I'm wary that the fuel gauge is inaccurate. Also concluded that every manual tranny vehicle should have a tachometer.. and that volts, oil pressure, and water temp gauges should be standard add-ons on these rigs. I need more info on the vitals!
worked on my bench bracket for my f250 today. copied my prototype bracket i installed in my friends 87 f150. i was drilling holes for the bolts on the bracket and got down to the last 3 holes and i think i killed the drill press at my work. it's a weak old drill press. i will probably have to replace it. i really need to quit braking things. i've been braking a lot of things lately
also worked on the timing cover and water pump on my f250. got it all installed then accidentally installed the woodruff key before the crank pulley spacer. doh!!! going to buy a 2nd woodruff key tomorrow and try to rap this thing up.
Got my bump some new sneakers. LT235/85/R16 E1 120 Q B Hankook Dynapro tires. All four. Need to find a steel rim and go get the 5th (spare). Took the truck for a nice, long road test. Did quite well. A/C evap is freezing up, "feels" like it's got moisture inside the system or maybe it had the famous farmer refrigerant installed (propane) at some point. Nothing a good vacuum and recharge won't discover.
Also got my muffler and tailpipe replaced.
Tires & Exhaust, neither of which I do. Maybe an exhaust manifold, outside of that, I let the pro's handle it. I'd sooner rebuild an automatic transmission than mess with exhaust. Maybe someday when I get a garage with lift in it

I replaced all the intermediate and rear driveshaft U-joints on my 70 4x4. One of the joints finally showed it was way past worn out. Now I don't have that annoying vibration in the transfer case shifter. Funny how that works.

This morning I mounted my kind of fishing reel on the equipment trialer. All self contained and removable. Then I went fishing....

I reeled in a 1970(ish) F250 2wd donor. Betsy (my truck) is going to get power steering and disc brakes. Might even get a new rear if the gears are better than what I have.

I am only interested in the motor/trans and running gear. I have four doors with most hardware, two hoods, and a bed with almost no rust. They are all looking for a new home.
The interior is Ranger badged. The red hood has F100 badges. If your looking for anything along that line, send me a message.
Lots to play with this winter.

Nice catch. Would you consider selling the long hood molding with hardware? Price?
I got the new master cylinder and booster installed. Went to bleed the brakes and discovered that the front right brake hose had plugged it self up. I'll have a new one this afternoon.
I realize I should do them both, but I am swapping front ends this winter for disc brakes and don't want to waste the money for the few miles it will go prior to the swap. I haven't been able to get the brake light to go out yet. It may be stuck. The left rear brake cylinder won't bleed. I checked the screw and it is clean. I pulled the line and it gushes oil. I hear rear brakes are a pain. Oh joy.
I also put a replacement antenna on her finally. I didn't spring for the oval one, but this isn't an OEM restoration by any means.
I put the freshly painted air cleaner with 352 sticker back on the carb.
Installed the new shocks and a steering stabilizer (thanks Ranchero50). I am slowly going through the bed full of parts.
I'm a little excited to get it back on the road so last night...
I re bled the brakes for the final time. I can't get the dash light to go off so the balance cylinder switch thing must be stuck. That will have to wait till this fall.
I diagnosed and fixed the turn signal and missing brake lights. Turn signal was a short in the old trailer wiring from 1967. I removed the brake controller and plug wiring and the turn signal came back.
Brake lights were out because of the fuse that is labeled 'hazard lights and cigar'. Hmmmm. Years ago, in the desert that fuse blew and all I could do was wrap it in foil to get home. Foil lasted about 20 years. Time for a new fuse.

chances are great that it's shifted to the rear brakes. If so, you can crack a bleeder on the front brakes and apply pressure on the system to force the spool back over. You'll just have to get off the brakes as soon as the warning light goes out or, the spool will shift over to the front circuit.
