Betsy has a set of Hooker headers. (I got tired of replacing the old cast iron jobs.) 20+ years later I have to replace a header gasket on the right hand side.

Since I was a smart boy and used high temp anti seize, it was a 15 minute job. No more put-put sound.

I got motivated and got some stuff done and in the pasts few weeks. I mounted led tail lights and removable mudflaps, replaced an axle seal in the 14 bolt, finished up most of the wiring, replaced body mount bolt, built a light flatbed around a tool box a friend gave me, removed overload spring, removed fuel tank behind seat and connected the fuel cell I mounted over the rear axle, mounted narrowed grill, installed an led lightbar, relocated air tank for my york compressor, finished installing power steering cooler, and took care of some other miscellaneous small repairs, adjustments. I even drove it down the highway :D. She's just about ready for the trails again.

Strapped the reeks-of-mouse bench seat to the top of my daily driver for a short trip to the upholstery shop tomorrow morning. It's a bummer because the seat and cover are actually serviceable, but I can't make the smell go away!

nothing today yet, but in the last week i've assembled my new 300 short block, new rings and bearings. last night i borrowed some tools from AutoZone and got the harmonic damper installed, and installed new tie rods and drop links, installed a new castle nut in the front driver's spindle, and packed some grease in there.

hmm, tonight, what... maybe get the water pump on, oil pump and oil pan, start mucking around with the clutch linkage perhaps?

Added speakers to the holes in the doors that have been there for years. Replaced the head unit in the console I made a long time ago. Found out the unit was DOA. I should have a replacement Wednesday.

Started tinting the windows.

ha! just drove into work for the first time since i put on all new tie rods... kinda sketchy, i erred on the side of caution with toe-in and the tires were scrubbing really bad.

just did a tapemeasure alignment in the parking lot at work, not too shabby, probably going to get some yardsticks and do a slightly better job at home tonight, but it is much closer than it was.

now i've got to pull the steering wheel and clock it about 120 degrees, not sure how that changed so dramatically from the old tie rods.

edit:

might be a pita having to always be working on the old truck, but it is pretty cool that you can do an alignment on your lunch break with a tape measure and a pair of vice grips.

Discovered that the mice in my cab, also set up shop on top of the instrument cluster. Pulled the cluster, disassembled it, cleaned it. Discovered that the mouse urine corroded the metal fascia inside the instrument cluster. Stripped and painted THAT too. Ordered a new circuit sheet for the back of the cluster, new bulb sockets, and a set of LED bulbs for the instrument cluster. Installed 2" voltage, oil pressure and water temp gauges under the dash.
