redid my timing cover gasket on the f250 for the 3rd time. ditched the front seal and used grey rtv on the timing cover and gorilla snotted everything in contact with the water pump and water passages. picked up the 4th power steering pump. got it from napa. apparently all of the power steering pumps are made by a1cardone. got the lubegard additive and a magnetic filter to go on the return line. finish the pspump tomorrow. letting the timing cover and water pump cure over night for that gooooood seal

This is the fourth starter in five months from three different OReilly's. One dead out of the box; two with 'dead spots' in them, but they tested perfectly on the bench at the store; and then this one, which has been sticky since the get-go. Apparently Mexican quality control leaves a bit to be desired.

Tomorrow I'll take this one down to a local shop and have it rebuilt by the guy who owns the place. Pretty damned sure he'll get it right the first time.

if you still have original starter for the engine then get it rebuilt. I'm pretty sure whatever you had ended up as a core. factory starters are machined to fit the flywheel( or vice versa not sure). anywho yes oreillys starters suck. go to napa and get a delco or a cardone or order one from rock auto. and it might not be a bad idea to invest in a starter shield or wrap your new one up with something. shops that rebuild starters as part of their main business will probably have one or be able to order you one that will also be of good quality

Mine was stolen a while back and the new owners made some upgrades. (I got it back) Todays project is to get the radio mount ears back where they belong. They have been bent straight back and the bezel cut out for the new sound system.
Due to the high cost of ammunition, you can no longer expect a warning shot.

When someone was beating on my door hollering "Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms", I naturally assumed it was a delivery.

Today, I got through making the last of (5) brake lines I fabricated for the '77 F-100 front discs I've installed on my '69 F-100.

Some pretty work you have there! May i ask what is the purpose of the coils on the tubing ? I see that it is installed on different projects over the great innerweb.

Thanks, Jimmy.

The covering on the brake tubing is known by several names; spring wrap, spiral wrap or armor guard.

It protects the hard lines from chaffing, rocks or road debris. To some extent, it also acts as a heat sink, like fins on a valve cover. It also gives an added bit of a cosmetic improvement in just simply making the lines look more professional.

Drove that sucker (69 f100) to work, since my 03 chevy silverado had the fuel pump crap out.

Replaced the right headlight with a Sylvania XtraVision halogen bulb. About $13 at Advance Auto. Didn't know it was out till someone told me - the high beam was still working.

The old bulb was an "Atlas," not a FoMoCo. Threw it away without thinking about whether it was a collectible!
