Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild - Vacation time!

Post by sargentrs »

So I'm off for a week's vacation from work again. A REAL vacation this time! Grandkids are in school and everybody else is at work  Just me and my truck. Drove to Blairsville (about an hour) to Southern Polyurethane's http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/ Monday and bought my red, at last. Came home and finished assembling my steering column
1.jpg
and then disassembled my glove box door and ash tray to get ready for color. My stepson welded my patch panels in my doors so got them ground, filled, re-primered and sealed. Starting tomorrow, I prep for paint. Sand, mask and the goal is to get the cab interior, inner fenders, steering column, glove box door and ash tray face all painted red. Hope to have something to show ya'll by Friday!

Went down to the man cave this morning and got my last door and '68 door panels prepped and while taking a little sit down looked over at the pile o' parts thinking "I must be nuts!"

mms_img466064909.jpg
Then dug the cab out from the corner of the garage from where she's been hibernating since last fall for a much needed washing.

Now for the first sanding with 600G and masking before I spray color tomorrow.

No particular shade. It's just Southern Polyurethane's base red. Really liked that red of yours too. I'm jealous of your engine, btw. Thanks!

Doing this all by yourself is a severe pucker factor. What a spider web of ratchet straps and nylon rope!
