Well it was solid Rangoon Red from the factory. Then someone color matched the faded paint and painted a few parts. Then it all faded at different rates, so now it is Multi-Orange.
I am thinking it would be easy to use the Rustolum method on the inside and just do the truck Red. That way I would not have to worry too much about all the nooks and crannies. It wouldn't be the Best, but it would get the job done.
Just a thought. I need to get he on the road first.

OK,
I got the Floor patches in and one side hit with the rust converter. Now I just have the 2 little spots at the botom of the front door post to patch.
The Pasenger side floor turned out to be worse the the drivers side. There where so many little holes that I just made a big patch.
Here are some pictures...
Drivers Side
Pasenger Side 1
Pasenger Side 2
They turned out realy good. I am happy I am not going to grind down the welds cuz I am planning on carpet at some point.
After I get it all patched up I will paint the top and bottom with some Undercoating.
What do you guys think?

Nice job welding. Wish I could weld. How did you get such nice welds ontop of rust? I thought you could only weld to clean steel. Are you going to open a little hole in that RH kick panel and weld in a patch? If you do could you get a pic?

I didn't weld to rust, I used a wire wheel to clean it realy good. then hit the edges a little with a grinder.jzjames wrote:Nice job welding. Wish I could weld. Well I have a week off and no Family around so I hope to get a lot done.
Last night I got the Floor finished. I used JB weld on the little pin hole places. Couldn't wait a week for the POR puddy to come.
Today I Pulled the 352 and 4-speed out and also pulled the front suspention. I started to clean it up a bit, but then it got dark.
I also narowed the spring pertches fro the 9" from 2.5" to 2". I hope to get them on the 9" tomarow night.
I also put a coat of undercoating on the floor. Looks realy good.
My wife took the camera, so I will see if I can borrow one or something.
Tomarow is clean, paint and wire.

If I can chime in on the floor patching...Id like to show you all what I do when a small patch is needed and its not going to be visable. Here's the patch I used on the floor under the gas pedal.
-heavy 18 guage pc. of metal, just riveted on with steel pop rivets. I use asphalt based roofing cement sandwiched in between and then on the bottom and top. I throw a piece of waxed paper ontop of the roofing cement until it has all hardened up in a few weeks, (just to keep it neat), and that baby ain't goin nowhere.

When you have a welder why not do it right??
That will work for a while, but it should be welded in.

re: MadMaxetcs '67 Driver Project
OK, i remembered that the video camera has a still camera option. The pics are not that good, sorry.
Mmmmm New Parts!
I think I passed the point where I have spent more on parts than I did for the truck!
I need a bigger shop!
Maybe Some day I will build that 30'x40' shop next to the house.
Out with the old!
Anyone need any of this?? All 250 stuff.
Clean enogh to eat off of!
All painted with some cheep under-coating. I am going to put carpet in some day. But for right now it will keep the rust away.
Time to clean it up for the 300!
I will take pictures in the morning of what I got done today. When I called it quits for the day it was way to dark for pictures.
More tomarrow!! This was only what was done on day one!!

re: MadMaxetcs '67 Driver Project
Well I made good progress today when I was actualy working on the truck.
I spent most of the day searching for brake lines and fittings. I final got a 25' rool of 1/8" and the end fittings I needed. Just about every place had 1/8" but only 3' lengthes and then they didn't have the ends!!
So the plan is to plumb in the brake lines tomarrow.
Here are some more pictures.

I will put the wheels on in the morning. To tired to do any more now.
