Get the tension off of the spring pack. I bet its just in a bind.
You could just jack it up via the frame, or go ahead & put it on jackstands.

That bolt is out far enough to tell it's not siezed to the spring bushing. I'd suggest that you remove the lower shock bolt and the u-bolts then lower the housing until it clears the spring. I suspect that bolt will slide out without much more problem.

Re: Big Burtha 70 F100 Suspension Work UPDATE 2/26
Once it warms up i'll have to mess with it some more. I've already took the shocks loose and dropped the drive shaft. I'm thinking about trying to loosen up the front bolts and see what happens. Right now i'm busy rebuilding the old carb for the 302 and putting on a manual choke.AlleyCat wrote:That bolt is out far enough to tell it's not siezed to the spring bushing. Re: Big Burtha 70 F100 Suspension Work UPDATE 2/26
Well Dropping The Fornt Bolt Got Them Off But The Ones I Had To Replace Them Didn't Fit. After Getting All That Together I Had A Transmission Scare The DS Went On A Free For All Spinning Under The Truck But Everything Is Fine Now. And Also Installed A New Manual Gear Box I Got From The Junkyard For $25. I Also Started Painting It Using Spray Paint So Far Its Turned Out OK. I Need To Go Back And Sand It And Spray Another Layer. What Do You Guys Think??

Re: Big Burtha 70 F100 Suspension And Paint UPDATE 3/21
I took a break today from my new F250 project and worked on my baby for awhile. I put some seats in it out of my dads van and I think there really cool and comfertable (dang I suck at spelling ) but anyways I got them in and my sisters car got wrecked so she let me take the CD player out of it and its almost to fancy for the old truck just need some better speakers so I can hear the music while crusing around. Also I got some 2 or 3 inch blocks for the rear end that I'll be putting on here in a few days. Hopefully since school will be out for summer tommrrow I'll be working on my 95 so that means I'll get to drive the 70 around .
Without the hood must have gave me like 300+ h.p because it shure was layin some good smokey ones while I was crusing around the neighbor hood but I found out my shifters WAYYYY off because I couldn't shift it hardcore and kept missing drive and 2nd and ending up in N so I'll have to adjust that B&M just ain't all they're cracked up to be plus I have to be careful what I do because no plates, inshurance and all that mess but I couldn't help it
More to come

Re: 70 F100 Big Burtha Project UPDATE 6/2
I finally decided to get my butt up off of the couch and work on the trucks. I finally got around to put some 2'' block on the rear end to make it sit up nice. Also while I was at it I got a new steering wheel.
Now it almost matches my Camper Special in stance
Also got some wiring mess cleaned up
New favorite picture
Tommrrow I'm gonna spend a little time working on speaker mounting then split town and shoot fireworks

Re: 70 F100 Big Burtha Project UPDATE 7/29
I started driving big burtha daily now and the springs rubbing the bottom of the 67 bed was driving me crazy so today I lifted off the bed and cut noches in the brace for the springs to fit. Also added a GM 1 wire alternator to fix my charging problems, and re-made the tail light harness because it was in bad shape and last I robbed the brake booster off of my 72 since its gonna be awhile till its running.
Got it off and now I can't figure out how to put it back on by myself
Its kinda scary working under it but it olny took a few minutes to make the notches.
Robbed brake booster
Had to have a little fun while the bed was off

Re: 70 F100 Big Burtha Project UPDATE 7/29
I bought a 72 F100 on craigslist and parted it out and now I've got a new project to under take. NP435 4SPD!!! I'm really excited to get going on putting it in. Also got a good 4spd steering wheel to replace my old 3 on the tree one.
Here's the parts truck after a day and a half of work
The 4spd and new pedals
And I finally got a good hood
Hopefully soon I'll be able to get going on this project. First I have to finish paying off my dad for the parts truck then I'll have to buy a clutch, flywheel and all that other mess.

Re: 70 F100 UPDATE 8/12
Little Update,
Big Burtha's still sitting out in the driveway waiting for that 4spd to go in. I'm hoping to start work soon so I can get the clutch. I plan on this winter while the 302's out changing the valve seals and depending on how much work I get I'm gonna have the block honded, new bearings, heads decked but I doubt I'll get to. I'm also getting ready to start ripping apart my 72 to junk because I can't afford to finish it so I'm just gonna let it go,but if I do the F100 gonna get CS front springs and leaf springs.
Sitting and waiting.
My new toy to keep my bust till work starts. Traded my B&M shifter to my brother for it.

Re: 70 F100 Small UPDATE 10/29
The 4 Spd swap has begun!! I got a flywheel and made a killing hauling off copper/aluminum and a little tin and bought a clutch and a new oil pump. Today I got the motor out and the old C6 off and tommrrow comes the 4spd and trying to wrestle the motor back in.

Glad to see your making progress on your truck. What was wrong with the C6 ?? Is it the tranny that was painted green from Gibbs here in McAlester ??

The C6 started slipping and the torque converter was making a werid noise. No the FMX was the one from McAlester.

Re: 70 F100 4spd Swap UPDATE 11/07
As of late last night the 4spd and motor are in. It took alot of doin to ge that 4spd right first it took 3 clutches to find the right one and had to loosten up the front cab mounts and raise up the cab. Some of them guys at O'Reilly's don't know there a$$ from a hole in the ground, but the one that fit was one I looked up in the book. Today after school I'm gonna put my motor mounts on and bolt the tranny down and change pedal, and make a z-bar bracket. I'll have pictures of it put up after school.
