Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
I'm hoping it will run mid 11s or quicker. I'm trying to keep weight out of it...light makes might! It weighed 3650 with a Cleveland and a C6, I'm hoping an aluminum headed big block will get me close to that.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
Finally got back to work on the "Speed Bump" yesterday. My daughter and her fiance' bought a house and I've been helping them move the last few weeks. I'm fabricating the exhaust with a Flowmaster 3-inch dual exhaust kit with mandrel bends and I'm using Dynomax Race Bullet Mufflers on it. The bullets are definitely free flowing and that's an entire orange sitting in the end for size comparison.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
I worked on the exhaust some more this weekend. I started with the Flowmaster 3-inch U-Fit dual exhaust kit. It came with a 2.5-inch H pipe.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
I made a jig out of 2 x 4s and a piece of plywood to make sure that the tailpipes were in the same location on both sides and clamped it to the frame with a C-clamp. I used ratchet straps to hold the tailpipe to the jig. I then measured and cut the over axle tubing to connect the mufflers and tail pipes with out hitting anything. I then tack welded the assembly then removed it to finish welding. The driver's side is done...passenger side next weekend. I'm going to run stainless tips and they'll end up a 1/2 inch below the bumper.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
I bought a new '95 Mustang 3G alternator from DB Electrical and mounted it today. It puts out 130 amps max and 70 amps at idle.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
Randy,
This is the one I got:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-FORD-MUSTAN ... 3437987938
At $87.70 and free shipping it was the best deal I could find! I had to put a thin shim behind the v-belt pulley to keep it from bottoming against the case when tightened. The mounting points are in the same place as the stock 60 amp and it was a virtual bolt in. The only difference is it takes a metric bolt where the adjustment ear is. IMHO it looks much better with the internal fans. Also, I'm going to be running a Lincoln Mark VIII 2-speed electric fan, electric fuel pump, and multi-spark ignition so I don't want issues with the alternator keeping up when I'm sitting in traffic.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
I finished everything on my exhaust except for the tips and where they exit. I'm not sure whether to go straight out the back or angle them out at a 45 degree angle behind the rear tires...I could also do a 90. The U-Fit kit will let me do any of the three. Any opinions on where the tips should exit? I plan on using slant cut stainless tips with 3-inch inlets and 3.5-inch outlets.

I ordered a '69 Mustang 20 gallon fuel tank kit today. I'm going to install it at the rear of the frame like Bobbyford and some others have done.
