What wheels you gonna run? you oughta consider the lightning wheels from same era as your frame being bolt pattern is right for you.

Re: Chassis Swap (1972 onto a 2002 Chassis)
Yeah Josh I've been looking and I really do like the lightning wheels but I can't blow the budget on wheels right now to many other things are needed. (Those dang wheels are expensive even used
.) This past weekend I drove up to Coeur d'Alene ID. and picked up the wheels in the back ground for $130.00 for all 4
![Image](http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm264/volarerob/IMG_1357.jpg)
The tires are shot and the wheels looked really bad but they cleaned up ok with just a scrub pad and water.
Before
![Image](http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm264/volarerob/IMG_1330.jpg)
After
![Image](http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm264/volarerob/IMG_1331.jpg)
I will polish them up and run them until I can find better ones.(lightning wheels)![Thumbs up ](./images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif)

Re: Chassis Swap (1972 onto a 2002 Chassis)
well working on blowing the budget...
been watching this truck on craigslist and finally went over and checked it out. $600.00 is a bit more than what I wanted to spend but it's very solid, only surface rust. The bed has some big dents but the tail gate is straight. It's a 1969 camper special with the dual battery set up.

The guy said that it is a 360 (rebuilt 40,000 miles ago) with a manual 4 speed trany but this thing has some serious power more like my friends 390 so I'm not sure if it really is a 360 or not.
The list of parts that I needed from this truck are:
Cab
Windshield
Inner fender (passenger side)
Tail gate
Hood
Wanted a 67-69 grill and I should be able to fix this one
Bonus is a very strong engine yet to be determined 360 or 390
So in the end I think it was worth the $600
Oh and it drives nice so I have a truck again for the time being and it is great to drive a bump again!!!!![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Do you have an extra hood that is in good condition? I need a hood and a passenger side inner fender. Please let me know at tred32@hotmail.com Thanks.

Re: Chassis Swap (1972 onto a 2002 Chassis)
So I've been spending a little time with the 69 now and just couldn't help myself I just had to clean it up a bit. I put some of my interior parts on it (door handles, seat, ect...) and also just cleaned up the inside. The plastic door panles were crumbling so I took them off and the metal ones under them looked almost new after a wipe down. I was looking for a parts truck when I found this but I might have found another project....
no more projects I need one of these to dang things finished! .....

Major improvement...nice little project. If I'm ever in the market for a parts truck, I will have to get something that couldn't possibly be restored, otherwise I'd end up doing the same.

Re: Chassis Swap (1972 onto a 2002 Chassis)
I finally finished welding away at the bed seem on the passenger side so I got out my grinder and went at it smoothing all the welds then pulled out the metal filler and went to town spreading it on.

![Image](http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm264/volarerob/IMG_0017.jpg)
It's a great product that I've used on other projects and it holds up very well and is very metal like once it hardens. Also a very good way to smooth out spot welds on sheet metal.

![Image](http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm264/volarerob/IMG_0024.jpg)
Almost looks like metal to.
![Image](http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm264/volarerob/IMG_0022.jpg)
had a spot of rust that was a little worse then I first thought so I cut it out and welded in a patch.

![Image](http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm264/volarerob/IMG_0033.jpg)
The ruffed in body work is done around the seem, so that should do for now. I kinda find myself bouncing around on this project but it keeps it interesting for now....

Re: Chassis Swap (1972 onto a 2002 Chassis)
I've heard of it, but I've never used it. This product is a little tuff to use because it is thick and it dries fast but if you thin it down a little it's a lot smoother to work with, but you still don't get very long to work it before it starts to set up. I just like it for how tuff it is. Now I can go over it with a skim coat of body filler and smooth everything without having a thick coat of bondo under my finish.Have you ever used USC Allmetaljust curious if the stuff your using is easier to work with
