Finally got me some Lye

Post by blue68 »

I got me some Lye last night and went to work on an old taillight trim that didn't really have any value to me. I let it sit for like 3 mins. and then I rinsed it off. Then I used 000Steel Wool (fine) and it got really shiny. Then I used Turtle Wax Chrome polish, and man that really made it shine. I can see my relflection in it. Dents are very hard to remove, but I got 2 out. I did all of it by hand, too. One day, i'm buying a buffer and I'm gonna do my grill and them get it anodized. It takes a lot of arm work!
