New Grinder - Which Size?

Post by Toothman »

Hello All,

I need some advice about what size grinder to get for general use. I've never really needed one before or if I had I've borrowed one so I don't really know what size to buy for my first one - 4 1/2", 5", 6"?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Corin

I find a 4.5" works well for most stuff. the bigger ones are usually to big to get where you want it and a bit unwieldy.

Ditto on the Milwaukee... mine wont die.. had a Makita and have a 9" DeWalt...it's ok, but that Milwaukee is one tough little rig... plus get one with the paddle switch... much easier to use with gloves and will stop as soon as you let go... can be very important safety feature! My Makita didn't have that :x

Milwaukee's supposed to be good.
Mine is a Sears Craftsman Industrial 4 1/2". Its also been a workhorse for me for 15 years, no problems. I paid around $60.

Sweet! Milwaukee it is then.

We don't get the huge range of tools that you guys get in the US but they sell Milwaukee here so hopefully I'll be able to find one.

Thanks everyone!

This is the one I have. It has the paddle switch, which I agree is a good safety feature. It is one tough grinder, for a good price. :)
