Getting ready to Paint

Post by 1971fordcustom »

Hi ever one I have not posted on here in a long time. But I was wanting to let ever one know in 2 weeks im going to get my 1971 ford f 100 all painted inside and out. The guy that is going to do it wroks for a hot rod shop and he has done some cars on tv that sold for a bit. He came over the other day and was looking at my truck and he said man this is the best 71 i've ever seen. He said this will not be hard at all. The price is 3256. Then a less then 500 for the inside. He is going to shine up my grill sence it has that li'l haze to it and he is going to steam clean my engine. Good thing is he said he wont even charge me for that. But today he came back by and said I called for the paint and thay say the thing is blue wich its not. So he took the glove box door off. And he is takeing that to a place where thay put it on some thing and it tells whats in the paint and how to get that match. Then the good thing is he is going to let me help him. I asked him how long had he done this and he said 42 years. It is 380 bucks just for the clear for the paint. He said why it is that much im putting the better clear on there. But from what he told me it will look lot better then it did when it came off the showroom floor. Any ways thats what im up to take care all. :fr:

Are you going with the factory color? Your VIN should tell what the original color was. :2cents:

Ya im going with the same color. That gold or whatever. And the code for the color was x witch that was blue. This truck was my grate grate uncels truck. Well he was cheep lol and I can see him getting a truck with all kinds of diff stuff. Like this my truck has a sport custom interior. But my truck is a custom but the aftermarket ac witch was deler installd says ranger and the glove box says explorer. So I think he had just what ever put on. Ive never seen a truck near like mine lol. So I can see why the vin might be wrong lol. When I got this truck I was 14 now im 18 years old. Well when we was looking at the truck the was a guy thre like his son n law or some thing in he said that was the frist new truck I ever drove and he can reminber when thay went to go get it. He said that it has never been painted and the ac got put on 3 weeks after ray got the truck. So I have no clue but I dont care its a one of a kind truck. That ac of mine is rare it is not the big one that goes all the way to the door. It is about as wide as the hump in the floor and where it says ranger it is woodgrain. I do have a friend that has a 65 f100 and he has the same ac. Well mine still wroks I just need the lil condenser welded and I need R 12. But if you have seen the A/C im talking about and you have a Photo do let me know. Thanks a bunch

not unuasual for a truck or car to be vined for one color, then when an order is placed and they are out of another color to send one back in to get repainted or even stopped just before paint and get changed as to what color goes in.

i'm starting to think the earlier addon dealer a/c's where either a brand called ranger or they only had ranger marked ones most of the time.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
