Olde Skool update 7-7-07 new pics

Post by kaptnkaos »

Hey guys...

Once again back at it... I spent pretty much the whole day working on the cabin area. It's nice to see some of the fruits of my labor starting to come together. I still have a couple more pieces of flashing to clean up and paint.
I'm gonna have to fabricate a cover for the big whole in the dash. The bus really doesn't have glove box persay, but there is a hole for one. Originally, it was covered with a piece of sheet metal so it won't be too difficult to make something.
Someone butchered a pretty good size hole in the dash evidently to mount a cd player. I'm just gonna make a cover plate for that hole too.
The bus panel is looking really nice. I need to get a couple more pull switches and bump knobs to finish it up.
It's amazin' what ya can get done with 12 undisturbed hours...

take care...

You've done a great job so far, the cabin looks like new. Is that steering wheel new? It sure looks it.

Hey '71 & DB...

Thanks guys...
I am real pelased with with the way she's comin' along... still got aways to go...
That's actually the original steering wheel. I scuffed it up with a scotch brite pad and gave it a couple of coats of Krylon satin black...
It looks like a NOS one now. The horn button is original as well, I haven't done anything to it.
I have a new set of mini gauges that I am going to mount vertically on the right side of the IP. With the exception of a couple pieces of flashing still needing painted and installed that should pretty much complete the cabin area.
I am gonna have to figure something to do with the driver's seat... the color (green) just doesn't go with with the new decor... :o
I'm thinking of recovering it with some sheep skin or some faux fur to blend in better with the medieval theme that I want the rest of the interior to have.

Take care...

hey RJ...

The royal blue and white should look great.
I wasn't aware that the Wally World paint was made by Rustoleum...
I wonder if it the same formula?
I don't see why it would be differant, but ya never know.
I have had really good luck with the Rustolium brand so far.
I am going to paint the rest of the inside Almond with a roller like '71 F-250 did his truck.
I doubt I will have to do all the prep work and wet sanding between coats. I will thin the paint some so it will roll on better, but I think I can do it in a couple of coats.
When I do my '68 CS it is going to be the same color combo...
In fact, I had actually purchased the Harbor Blue and Black paint to do the interior of the CS before I even got the bus... it will be cool to have them both match.
If I ever get the CS up to showable quailty, it would be cool to be able to trailer it with Olde Skool to car shows. Besides, I would have a nice cool place to hang out.

Take care...
