OT: 00 f-250 tranny problems need help fast
Our tranny (automatic) in our 00 F-250 with the 7.3 powerstorke is giving us fits. It is having problems shifting and let me describe what it does below.
Last week I would go from one to two then to drive but it wouldn't kick into third gear even if I ran the RPM's way up or let off the pedal for a minute then thried it again. It did this for a week.
Tonight I messed around with it and went from 1 to drive and it went into second gear after I let off the pedal for a second then hit it again. It also did this from second to third. I went to turn around in reverse and the engine rpm's dropped and it stalled the truck out. (just like if you put a manual in to high of a gear) I just put it in drive and it shifted up if I would left off when it was going 1 to 2 2 to 3. All the gears above three shift fine.
Also before this sometimes it seemed that it dropped into too high of a gear when going from 2 to 3 as it would take some time to get truck moving at a normal rpm speed.
The transmission oil isnt burnt and their aren't any filing in the oil or in the bottom of the pan. My guess its one of the control solenoids but that doesn't explain the reverse problem I don't think. The transmission is the 4r100e I do believe (the vin says 9 under TR). I need this truck up and running by friday to go to Utah to get my new bump crew. Any ideas

Changed the filter and oil tonight and put some tranny cleaner stuff in the parts guy said to try. My dad is off driving it now to check cows (70 mile round trip) so I'll see the results from their.

Okay he said everything was shifting better and working fine OTHER than when your in Drive and it goes from first to second. he said you have to rev it up quite a ways let off wait a second and then hit the pedal again and it will go into second.
All the fuses on the dash are fine, Are their any fuses on the tranny itself and where all does the transmission have ground leads at.

Man thats weird, it would be the 4R100. I have an E4OD, same tranny but the earlier version in my '97, and it is a great tranny. I assume the OD light is not blinking correct? If you lock out OD (4th) what happens?
Did you buy that crew that was for sale around Salt Lake for something like $1K?

The OD light is blinking, but I think I got it narrowed down to one of the valves sticking in the valve body.
Yes thats the one.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

There are some codes that can be pulled since the light is blinking, that will point you in the right direction.
You can tow safely in OD as long as the tranny isn't searching for gears.
