The great intake swap.(legnthy w/pics)

Post by wt4speed#2 »

As some of you know my "2nd time 'round" project turned in to a garage clutter piece,as of late. It's not that I've let her die on the vine . After a 6 month bout with unemployment (no comp. pay approve)and health concerns that left me pretty dang useless ,this was the main reason for length of unemployment (no workers comp. claim either).
With the new job and the heat my level of entusiasum has been a little less than stellar.
When I started down time on this project , I wasn't on a time frame as my employer furnished my DD (2007 Ford F-250 s/d 4 door  ) . I was forced to try to get her back on the road as secondary transportation for the family. Know I had quite a bit of repair work on the cab ,I had been muttling thur it . When the U hit I started scrambling . I was trying to fix the worse cancer affected areas i.e floor pans ect. "Well while I was there" <hehehe>
I have acquired several upgrade and future adds for my truck. Most of which are now backburner stuff due to time constraints. have a lot of repairs to do to make this cab useable I was fixin at 'em and try to get my money tree to sprout , to fund a cab. A "hippy" angel appeared , quizzed me as to how much I was having to fix,I told him showing as I explained. He told me that if I wasn't YOM restrained(a big way of asking if it had to be a '69 cab) he had a '70 cab that don't need much. All he want's is my cab for core weight. Thanks "bro" you know who you are. So now That shortens my list a ton. just gonna prime the interior so I aint sitting in the dark. During the down time I've lowered it , tires and wheels , headers , carburetor man waco tx 'factory spec. reman holley . And then the back burner stuff.
Another member hooked me up with an 'offenhuaser 360* dual plane 351w aluminum intake (did get a before pic dang). Was gonna wait but the clean up turned out great. With some brainpicking of Mike(fitzwell)
I decided to do the intake swap as I had the reman. Holley feeding a factory 351 w 2v intake thur a 2x4 adapter plate. I've enlisted Mikes help and plan to at least fire and tune her next week. Was gonna try for sunday afternoon (may still). but got side tracked . After fitz and I get her cranked and tuned , I've got to get the tins hung back , Rig up some rear temp. fenders( bed ain't no where near ready). I'm gonna drive it while I groom the other cab, paint the cab , doors fenders and hood ( one at a time ) . Then I'll be back to a cab and chassis ,while i go thur the bed. Sounds like pipe dreams i know but this is my goal.
Sorry so long a few intake pic more to come later:
Looking for a new home.

I have that same manifold for a 390. I plan to use it when I do the rebuild. Gonna put a 4bbl Holley on it. Make sure you post as to how well it performs. I'd be real interested in that.

Well flyboy I'll let you know I really don't have much to compare it too as she ain't seen fuel in over 2 yrs but i'll bet i'll be thrilled. With any luck I'm gona try to get her at at least started sunday sometime. In the middle pic the heater hose connection gave me some problems ad i stripped out about 5-6 aluminum threads removing it . it was clogged and , it's replacement will look somewhat different not as pretty but functional .
more pics by sunday i promise
