Engine's back in

Post by shrektruck »

After putting it off much too long I put the engine back in the Shrektruck. It ended up getting a mild cam and lifters, Weiand aluminum intake, truck avenger 670 carb, 30 over pistons, crank polished, new oil pump, Hedman Elite headers, Flowmaster 50s (should have gone with the 70s or the hushpowers, 50s are still pretty loud)...What else???? Electric fans and a cleaned up four row radiator. I think that's it. Runs pretty good, I think I'll upgrade the alternator before the cross country trip though.
I'll take pics if ol what's her name ever finds the camera.

What kind of electric fans did you use?

I used two Hayden 3670s with the appropriate controller. They keep it quite a bit cooler than the stocker when waiting in line at In 'N' Out.
Right now they're mounted directly to the radiator but Ihave half the bracket fabbed up so they won't be hanging on the radiator. Itried for some good pics but the light is wrong right now.
here's pics of the rest of the job:

Thanks guys. It sounds good if you're not sitting in it with your fillings popping out!. Actually I used Flowmaster 50's and now wish I'd gone with 70s or hushpowers.
I like the sound but it drones if you're on the highway which I will be here soon.

Must be the pic angle.
There is a good inch of clearance between them; I hate rattles...well, rattles or vibration from sloppy exhaust work. The challenge was getting equal lengths of pipe before the mufflers and routing them both down the passenger side so I could keep the aux tank.
Still not sure I like it. I may rip it all out and start over when I get a chance

Keep up the good work

Looks good.

Putting tail pipes on it would probably quiten it down quite a bit, and change the rpm and speed of the drone.

Of course, you could scrap the flowmasters and go with Ultraflows...

I think the flow masters are coming off. And you're right Robert, The pipes gotta go back. I broke a cardinal rule and hurried a bit because of the move.
