'70 F250 CS Update
Finally got around to shuffling some pics around and uploading.
Here's some before shots :
And it's current state (frame almost done) :
Cab bottom in process of cleaning :
Also, the following is what caused the only real rust damage :
Note the bolt under the the trans cover allowing water in (pic is turned)
Note that nothing has been touched up yet, just the essentials. Dust from grinding is already covering up the first areas done.
I'm pushing to have things ready enough for the engine drop in next week. Engine builder thinks it should be done then.
Yeah, I know... black frame with certain red parts. Actually what happened was I ran out of black one evening... so my friend says "It'll look cool!". I'm not totally convinced red I beams and springs are the 'in' thing, any opinions?
Thinking about mounting the proportioning valve on a made-up bracket on top of the steering box... the newer style prop valve won't fit where the original was located and still requires re-plumbing anyway. Keith, didn't you do that on your project pages? Any words of wisdom regarding the brake lines or mounting the valve?

It's looking good I agree with AlleyCat on the brake stuff.
On the Red and Black on the suspension, kinda depends on your age and style... I know that is what the young cool thing is now days but it's a little much of a bright contrast for some of us older guys If your painting the truck Red it might look ok.

re: '70 F250 CS Update
Yes... will go back as red/white like original.
I considered the Ronald McD paint job - just need to add some yellow in there someplace, maybe the tranny
Kidding aside, I could care less about the undercarriage colors - its gonna be a daily driver and hopefully the last truck I'll ever need.
Thanks for input on the prop valve... I think there are a couple later 74+ trucks are in a local salvage yard. Was also considering just making an angle bracket for it - not much involved except making sure it points the lines the right way so as not to interfere with anything else.
As for brakes, that confirms it - I'll run new lines to everything. The originals aren't in bad shape actually, but would have to put in at least 3 couplers to re-use them - just more potential failpoints.

Nausea,
Looking awesome man!
You been busy...and disc brakes to boot?
Clay is right about the proportioning valve. I saw a 73 in the junkyard a few months ago that had this bracket, (along with about 30 layers of grime).

re: '70 F250 CS Update
Yep, had drums - got new (original like is on the '72) disc setup on it now. One of the front drums was trashed with a 1/4" deep channel cut into by bad pads (gee thanks, PO!) So it was gonna cost $ either way to put it back together. I was shocked at the price of the front brake hoses - $50 ea from Napa!!! Still need to order the one for the rear too. Wanted to find braided, but I'll settle for an exact match
The speedo cable has a nice melted area on the jacket where it touched exhaust pipe at some point Still freely turns, so I may re-use it.
And the front e-brake cable is nearly severed - that's another part to order. This thing is literally nickel and diming my pocket book away! Too late now to back out or do a 1/2-ass job on it though!
Will have some more pics soon - trying to finish up frame now.
In other news, I'll have all the front drum hardware available for sale if anyone wants 'em

My philosophy on my bump exactly.
I'll have probably 6-8K in mine if I can build it the way I want to.
But look at the newer garbage I woulda' bought with that same money.

re: '70 F250 CS Update
Sorry, no pics yet. Got the bottom of the cab POR15'd and all relevant seams filled with that special caulk.
Have started the wiring harness installation - basically just finished mapping out all the dash switches and prepping the old plugs with slip connectors. Decided against using the original gauges and new individual gauges are quite expensive for a full matching set (plus having to fab a panel), so have ordered the 6 gauge Nordskog panel which looks like it'll mount into a cutout area of the original bezel. (See http://www.nordskogperformance.net/prod ... p10002.htm ) Yes, pricey but includes all the senders - digital speedo can be calibrated for any tire size or ratio by a 1 mile setup run.
Waiting for engine to be totally done - builder is going to break-in and dyno sometime this coming week. Waiting for an overlooked part - a worn distributor gear and for builder to fab mounts for an FE.
Disassembled, cleaned, packed bearings and reassembled steering column - because couldn't get the horn connection to ground.
Have brake line, fittings and tools so will be starting a total refit soon.
So now it's basically reassemble time!!! Finally - started teardown in Sept!

Hey Nausea,
Dang dude, that's really lookin' sweet.
I would really like to do a frame off resto on mine to, but don't have any place I can do it.
My buddy Kyle has been kind enough to let me tie up his barn for the last couple of months just to do what I need to do to get it back on the road...
Keep up the good work man...

re: '70 F250 CS Update
Again, sorry for no pics! Update:
390 breakin & dyno completed - picking up Sat
Norkskog panel test fitted into dash- had to really dremel the bezel to make it fit nicely - had to cut about 13" out of the center area. Will repaint bezel and cab interior soon. Cab set down temporarily and finished cleaning top firewall area, cab inside and door posts - ready for por. New brake lines run, calipers and prop valve mounted.
After engine and tranny are mounted can start the wiring.
And will get some pics posted of the progress soon!

Here's the possible header clearance problem:
For those that wanted to see LMC's aux tank hose (filler & vent):
Single coat of por in cab floor - will apply bedliner in place of carpet/vinyl
