Power Up

Post by 67mann »

:yip: Installed 100amp Service in the shop yesterday. Now I get to undo the 12/2 single feed line to the rats nest I've created over the years :woohoo:
I've had enough and I'm not alone

100 amp is cool!

I had 60 amp service to my barn for the last 12 or so years.

I could weld and do about anything but was pushing the limit.

I tripped the 200 amp main on my shop one time and regularly trip 60 amp 220 breakers.

On a good day you can warm yourself in front of the breaker panel!

It's not right, but 1/2 my equipment is run through a phase converter. The b*tch is the 3 phase stuff puts a hell of a load to start with and I have a 15KW heater broken into 3 banks of 5KW spread between two phases. Basically, one bank of 120 has 5KW more load than the other bank so the breakers trip.

Dustin,

Probably a stupid question...
Have you tried to even the load on the breaker: by moving your lighting circuit to the lessor phase?

I've thought of trying to balance the load better, but I just don't have the time. I'm on the lookout for a bigger place and plan to run the whole mess off a diesel genset so I'm just content with re-setting breakers for now.

i have a 200 amp service coming into my garge half of it goes to the house and the other half runs the garge... i have a 20amp break for each wall. Total i have around 15-20 plug ins in the garge..That is more than my house has total

I set up concerts from time to time and have found out something very interesting about sub amps(you know for speakers) well anyway we have these 4050 qsc amps that if you take the leads to the speakers and arc it you can weld with it. A old Vietnam vet showed me this trick you can even soldier with a smaller amp its really cool to see

You can weld with a car battery too, but it's not good for the amps or the battery.
