3 speed column to C-4 automatic
I have a 69 F100 with a 240 cu in 3 speed std column shifter, I have a 70 doner truck that has a 302 cu in with C4 automatic will it bolt up using bellhousing and doner part from the 70? If not what will I need to find to bolt up the automatic to the 240? Thanks in advance for the help!!

Re: 3 speed column to C-4 automatic
yes it will all fit. the 70 should have all the parts you need for the swap. engine transmission driveshaft steering column linkages engines stands/perches from the crossmember. the only two things i can think of is. power steering vs manual steering. and hte turn signal switch wires coming out of the column. the 70 will have one plug and the 69 will have two plugs. swap the turn signal switches and you'll be fine. or swap the plugs which ever is the best way to go for you. the power vs manual and you'll have to swap steering boxes also to use the 70 column. unless both trucks are power or manual. if one is power and the other manual then you have to chanege the boxes. i hope that helped and i didnt miss anything.

Although almost every piece will work, it is important to remember that the flywheel is balanced differently from the 6 to the smallblock. They will bolt up but balance is not correct and it will shake like a wet dog! You will need a 240 automatic flywheel. Hawkrod

i misread that. i thought you were asking if the 302 and the c4 would swap over.

I have a used, but pretty good (couple of teeth chipped about 25%) flex plate for your 240. You can have it for shipping plus a donation to Fordification.
I am also not sure if the main bolts through the flex plate are the same for the 302 and 240. The manual tranny bolts that hold the Flywheel onto the 240 are longer than the ones that hold the flex plate on. These are special bolts, flat large head. Anyhow, you cannot reuse the 240 bolts, but you MIGHT be able to use the 302. I swapped over to a C4 from a 300 with an automatic. So, I know the bolts are different between the auto and manual. But 302 versus 240 I don't know.....
I think you can get new boltsm from dealer or places online. These are NOT just your normal grade 8 bolts. You should get the correct ones. I can't recall the size -- its a normal size. The head is different, that's the issue.

65 f-100 SWB, 240 I6, T-18, now swapped to C4 with difficulty. Yeah, I know. Its a 67-72 site. But my frame and entire drive train are just like yours!!!!
