rear axle brake line hose cut

hey, on my 69 2wd swb rangers rear axle this rubber line has been cut and i would like to know what it is and if its need to be fixed im not sure what is is so i hope yall can help.

thats the rear axle vent tube hose. you can replace it with a hose clap and some new hose. take some dykes and cut that band off of there and put a new hose and hose clamp on it. that is a very common thing to see those broken off like that.

what that hose also does is help keep dirt out of the rear end. if the hole ever gets plugged up it will puke oil out the axle ends.

Replace it with a piece of hose long enough to lay up in the frame rail. That way it can vent, but won't collect dirt or water.
