NY, NJ, Pa, and Northeast M and G 2009 7/11/09

Post by FLATBEDFORD »

Let's if we can get something planned for summer '09.
First off, Who's on board? That will help us find a location. I think it would be best for the location to not necessarily be an event, but a place where we can hang out, has room for a few trucks, and food.
Let's talk about this.

Looks like alum pulley and a socket head cap screw....

I'm on board! I like the "hang with food and drink" idea also... We gotta get pipes71 onboard too!

When you know who wants to go, Plot it on a map. Then draw a circle and find the center. It might work? :? :)

I looked at your pics. The Bump is in good shape. I also like the optional bottle opener. I do have a question, What do you mean " Real Bumps have six wheels " :? Does that mean I got screwed when I bought mine? Mine only has four    .

Don't worry Bumpside, you didn't get screwed, you just got short changed.

BTW: My bump is three feet longer than Flatbed Fords, and i get better mileage
DRW's rule. Outstanding work trucks. I wouldn't trade mine for anything!!!
But you can't play to much with them. I've never tried, but i cannot image what it would take to burn a donut in a 139" WB truck

You guys know I'm on board. As for the location, I'm flexible and mobile. I am based out of Philadelphia these days, but I'm not afraid to travel, especially with fuel at $1.70/gal again! So basically all of NJ, eastern PA, and the Southern Tier/Hudson River valley are game for me. Let's make this happen again this year!

Let's get a good plan together for the warmer months, once the salt is off the roads and it's not too cold to drive a drafty old truck without heat.

I kept my truck up in NJ for about a year, but this summer I moved it down to PA and re-registered it here. It's tucked away in the garage for the winter now, hiding from all of the road salt.

The previous owners of my truck, being in Arizona, didn't feel the need to replace the heater core so apparently when it started leaking they bypassed it. Last winter I did a few highway runs with my truck in 20*F weather. Not fun when wind is constantly gusting through the cab and there is no heat!

Summer is better for me anyway. We have to figure out who is in and work from there. From late May thru September is best for me. I work weekends the rest of the year.

Ok, here goes for a suggestion: I am a big fan of antique engine and far equipment shows, and being gearheads, I know a number of guys on Fordification are, too. So maybe we could meet up at one of these?

In Bangor, PA, July 17-19th, the Blue Mountain Antique Gas & Steam Engine Association is hosting an antique engine, tractor, and car show.

Titusville, NJ September 11-13? At Washington's Crossing State Park, in New Jersey, Delaware Valley Old Time Power & Equipment Association hosts their "Days of the Past" antique engine, tractor, and truck show. I've gone to this a few times and there is usually a big showing of antique Ford trucks and tractors.

I will look and see if I can find any of these-type events in New York state. So far, the only ones I've found have been waaay up north or out west.

Any interest?

I know there is something out in Kent, Ct. But that is pretty far for you. I think a MnG doesn't have to be at an event. All we need is place that we can park the trucks hang out and get a bite to eat and a beer or two. At an event parking them together would even be a challenge unless we all got there at the same time. The race track worked because there was ample time and the parking lot was the event. We need something like a cruise in.
