Here is mine finally!

Post by Joshpow »

I guess you guys have heard of my little projects, not big or really even special, but here are some pics of my latest mods and progress. Sorry for dust and dirt, the truck is still a driver, and I ain't got to wash it lately.

I added a homemade aluminum panel in place of the under dash Ranger trim. It is 2 inch aluminum angle. I cut it to fit and drilled holes to mount it. I plan to smooth it up and polish it later and add Ranchero50s polished accessories too. Here's pics:

I also added a tilt column. The trim panel is a modified 84 or so f150 column cover. I cut it to fit the dash and around my tach. I plan on some fine tuning for it later on too. The column needs paint and a shift indicator bulb/socket and it will be great. Not too bad for $75 with the new grant wheel installation kit and a different Grant wheel than pictured. IT was in good shape, but I'm partial to my chrome 3 spoke. Here's a few pics of it:

Wait! There's more.

I also added a power antenna from a Mazda 626. A friend gave me an antenna from a 93 Mazda, so in it went. I had to modify a little, but I was pleased with the results. No visible mods and it works flawlessly. I even added a switch to stop it at any length I want. That way, I can tune it to the radio station's frequency. It picks up good and even retracts at any time the AM/FM tuner isn't on. On CD, AUX, or OFF, it retracts. Here's pics of it:

P3030400 (929 x 697).jpg
I also added 5 1/4 inch speakers in the doors. I painted the panels out black. I kinda like the black, but I don't know if it suits me yet. I plan to go gray and black interior some day.

I plan to change the seats again soon. I am contemplating Ford Explorer buckets with the existing center seat. The Explorer seats will sit an inch lower than these if I measure correctly. That will give me a little more headroom. For the new seats, the DS is power and the PS is manual.

Hope you like it! All on a budget and still drives fine!

Looks great, I like it. I've been wanting to do something under the dash also to hide some of the ugly(Blower motor, ect.). Question. Whats the black knob between the dash and the passenger side door? Keep up the good work. :D Toast

Looking very nice  . Just curious, the seats you have look pretty nice... doesn't seem like an extra 1" would make much difference :hmm: Thanks for sharing the great pics :D

The height isn't the deal. I'm a good size guy, 6'1" 230lb, so the high bolsters are a little too narrow to be comfy for me. Makes my shoulders feel crunched together.

No antenna install pics yet. I plan to get some. Only pics is the ones here. The only cutting was to the plastic inner vent, which you don't see installed. I'll show you some pics when I can. Right now, I am focusing on transmission troubles.

I am SOOOO glad to see this. I would love to be able to use the drive through car wash, but of course the stock antenna would not like those spinning brushes. Any more details on the install would be GREATLY appreciated.

BTW: NICE job.
