Project Update 09/27

Post by JMcTurnan »

Alright heres some images of my project. Most of the truck is under primer now, the bed is still rusty. Thats a 351w engine, with a holley 1850 electric choke. It runs great. Installed a cd player yesterday and it works good, I have speakers in the headliner. That an original seat, I didn't like my buckets so I bought an original. Its rough, but hope to get it reupolstered sometime. I have almost everything for power steering, just need 1 bracket. I have a guy whose going to sell me the complete 78' f100 frame, Im just taking the axeles for the breaks, a c4 too. All for only 150, it includes everything I need. So hopefully power steering and breaks work out.

Looks like a clean straight truck you have to work with. What's your next step?

Man someone responded yay! Well this saturday Im going to try to pick up some disk brakes, soon a good exhaust system. Winter is coming soon, so I was planning to completely finish the interior. After that finish the exterior. Than work on a souped up engine, and tranny, and paint the engine compartment. Yea when I got the truck it was pretty straight. But someone just rustoleumed it, with some genereic rustoleom. SO it was pretty hard getting it off.

I'm glad to see that you got some progress on your truck. Before you know it, two years have passed. You'll have it painted, and ready for show. Does it spin the tires? How's the responce on that engine now that you got it running?
Good luck..

I think Im a tooth off on timing, it spins tires if I floor it. Its just a street carb on there, so no fancy stuff. But it runs good, I took the farthest trip today, 105 miles in pooring rain, no problems at all. Picked up my new front end for disk brakes.

Well i use to have a holley 650 marine, wow id spin tires for days if I floored it, and it would haul ass. But this one not so much, but Im not really in it for racing so yea. But when I finish the complete restoration I might throw in a nice 300hp crate engine, and tranny.

You get a good visual with those if you're pulling a boat or a trailer. They look like brand new, are they?
Today I went to Roma, and checked out the progress on my truck. Looks like we'll get her started this week. I put on the fan shroud with some stainless bolts and washers, along with the heater hoses today  .

Yea there brand new, they stick out a bit, i think Ima cut em down just a tad. I can prolly get em in another 2 inches. Paid 65bucks for em, theyre not the best quality I don't think, but they look good. The mirror on passengers isnt flat and has ripples LOL. But I mean I work for a glass company I can just cut a new one.
