Why 67 -72?
I've been using this site for several months now and I love it. I don't think I could have tackeled my 68 project without it and having this resource has certaintly made the project more enjoyable.
The question that keeps popping up in my head is why this year span? I'd like to hear yout thoughts.
I've restored two other Fords with the help of my Grandpa who is a retired Ford autobody repair man and life long restorer of everything Ford. My first was a 1966 Mustang. After that I found a 1957 Rancero that I absolutly loved and wished I never let go. Those projects were almost 20 years ago and like I said I couldn't have done them at all w/o grandpa. If I needed a part, he most likely had one in the shed. Needed something cut or welded, no problem. He had a huge shop and almost everything I needed to do the job. Plus, HE had the skills.
20 years later, I picked the 1968 Ford truck for two reasons: I'm a truck guy and 1968 was the year I was born and I wanted to drive something as old as me.
I love my truck and won't ever let this one go. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

These are some of the best looking trucks Ford ever built. A lot of us also have a sentimental attatchment to either their specific truck or the bodystyle. My truck has been in the family since it was ordered from the dealer...I'm the second guy to own it.

Re: Why 67 -72?
its one of the best ford truck designs imo. Mine was my grandfathers he bought in 1968 from the original owner.
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

I love these things. Mine has been in the family all but 3 years (cause i was a dumba$$ and sold it, and it took me 3 years to get it back). My grandad bought it in early 70. I'll never let it go again.

x2. It makes me proud to know the only other azz in the drivers seat of my truck was my grandpaws.Redcap wrote: My truck has been in the family since it was ordered from the dealer...I'm the second guy to own it.
The simplicity of these trucks is paramount. Even with the onset of the denside era, ('73-'79), things started getting more complicated.

I think Keith said it best on the home page of this site:
By only concentrating on this 6-year span of F-100, F-250 and F-350 trucks, we can be much more thorough and complete.

Re: Why 67 -72?
They are well built and they last. I still see at least one or two every week still on the road doing its job. I don't hardly ever see Chevys or dodges of that era on the road. I bought mine in 1971 from my neighbor who bought it new. The man who I bought it from just turned 85 and he came to Florida last winter and stopped to say hello. I asked him if he still remembered the 68 Ranger and he said he did, so I opened the garage and showed it to him. All he could say was "wow you still have it"

Why this yearspan for the website? one reason is it started out for Keith(Fordification) to catolog his build.

Re: Why 67 -72?
67 to 72 is a specific design of the Ford pickup. 73-79 is a different design and the 61-66 is of another.

I have always wanted a 1966 F100. But the 67-72 F-series around here sell for less. The bodystyle is still pretty neat.

They are a solid well built truck. Light enough to handle a substantial payload, but very rugged.
The only other truck I would consider is the I.H. from the same time period.

Re: Why 67 -72?
I have always liked the 67-72s ever since I first drove one on a horse farm hauling firewood. These trucks are tough, simple, and look great. I really like how the front of the truck/grill tilts forward at an angle, almost like its about to lunge forward.

Re: Why 67 -72?
For me, my two trucks were my fathers and grandfathers. I grew up helping them work on them so I love these trucks and would never part with them. Also, these trucks were built to work and are easy to work on. I look at my son's Toyota pickup and and think what a mess of electrical and hoses. We just swapped a new motor in it and I won't do that again.

Why is it that the trucks are always the best running vehicles in the family?
