1968 Ranger found in salvage yard

Post by bluebolt »

I found a 1968 Ranger long bed in the U Auto Pull it yard in Shreveport LA today. VIN is F10HKC44258 making it a Nov 1967 build truck. 390, C6, PS, Dana 44 limited slip A8 code. Picked over already, may go get PS brackets and pump tomorrow.

I told the guy he was a idiot. Ask him how much he got and he said $175 and he seen the $500 in my hand and try selling me a old rust bucket 1967 f100 no motor, no trans, no rear end, and it was rust to h*ll.

As much as it hurts the scrap outfits are in business to make money. Hanging onto older slower moving parts isn't as profitable as the newer stuff. If you find something I suggest you grab it because a car crusher has no concience. :(

I hate to see old trucks go to crusher despite what condition they're in. A few years ago there was a new apartment complex being built and when they cleared the land, several old cars and trucks were uncovered from the dense woods. I wanted to take some parts off them but never could get permission in time. They sat there for a couple days and then dissappeared, probally to a crusher. However, just YESTERDAY I saw an intact '54 f100 cab sitting on the edge of a power line cut that had just been cleared. Not a bump, but definitely something neat to see.

that is very true. but the man should have been more reasonable. say 300-400. maybe he would have got that quicker and made someone happy. plus he would have made more money than scrapping it. but if the person didnt come back within a certain amount of time that is a different story too.
