SVT Raptor - Country of Origin?

Post by DuckRyder »

Where is Ford building the F-150 (and in particular the Raptor)?

Engine - USA?
Transmission - USA?

This site says the truck is being assembled in Dearborn: http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-f-150-raptor.html

Wikipedia says the 5.4 engine is being built in the U.S. and Canada. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Modular_engine

I found some sites that says a supercrew and the 6.2 liter are coming out for the raptor. Couldn't find much info. on the 6.2 motor though. I couldn't find any info. on the trans, I don't really know which one the f150 uses.

I went to the Dealer (Not an SVT dealer ... Closest one of those is 30-40 miles).

All the F150's were final assembly in Dearborn, Engines USA and trans USA of Mexico...

No 6.2's...although I believe it is now available in the Raptor...

I found a post while looking saying that the Toyota Tundra was the only full size truck assembled in the USA...more disinformation I assume...

The (non 6.2) Raptor is a 3v 5.4 no? I think the 5.4-4v is currently only in the GT500...

Looks like the 6.2's are trickling out to dealers (there are a couple of Raptor forums) and folks are picking them up in the last few weeks... I wonder if that would help to get a better deal on a 5.4?

If the Ford website tells the truth, there are only a few near me and they are all molten orange, I would probably want white (or perhaps black) with no graphics (I expect those would look bad in a number of years).

It looks like the 2011 Raptor is available as a super cab or super crew and the 6.2 is the only engine...

Dang those are nice trucks.
They need a bit more ground clearance, though.
Although- I wouldn't take my brand new $40,000 truck on mountain trails anyway.

  :$$: :$$:

I simply ADORE the RAPTORS!!!!!!!!! Got to see a 5.4 Raptor, they wanted $41,000 and it was used. But heck, I can dream cant I? IF I were to buy a new truck this is the only truc I would even be interested in. And not even coming close to being able to afford one, I will just keep playing with my 1994 F-150 and my 1969 F-100.
1969 F100. All factory 360, 4-speed, candy apple red one owner. Incredible truck!

The dealer here in Corpus has a Black 2011 Raptor Super Cab, it was $43,000 or so MSRP. Final assembly Dearborn and Engine/Trans USA.

But remember (especialy for the people with that kind of burnable money) 40k is the new 4k, And most people would take a 4k truck mountain trailing.

Look at you guys. I hope your bumps aren't hearing this. A few dents, cab sag and a little rust and you guys are off drooling all over some shiny virgin like a 13 year old at a Jona's brothers concert! You should be ashamed.

What the previous two comments say.

Ford has redone (or will within the next year) everything in their lineup and it is all top notch and pretty cool. There are a few cars I don't like that much, but the rest are amazing. I even like the new Taurus and I HATE the old ones.
The Raptor- outstanding. Especially considering it is a factory production off road vehicle made in the US that you can buy at a regular dealership for a not an outrageous amount of money.
