:wel: to the site. Since your truck is a "dentside" era truck, you would probably be better off posting this question at the sister site, FORDification.net
Here is the link : http://www.fordification.net/index.htm

I would like to see some pics of your truck. I personally have never seen a Factory dent dually, that wasnt a cab & chassis.

Post some pictures of the front suspension, front engine crossmember and the vin number. Regardless of what anyone tells you ford didn't make that truck. Obviously you have it there, but somebody else built it, not Ford.

I bet it is a Napco conversion since it was a search and rescue vehicle. Just my :2cents: .

I saw he posted the vin number on the 73-79 forum. It starts with F26XXXXX. Your truck is definitely an F-250 4x4. The question would just be whether or not they used good parts to make the truck a dually. It probably has a 76-79 Dana 60 front axle under it with 80's dually outers switched on the old housing.

Are the wheel lugs 1/2" or 9/16"? That'll tell you most of what you need to know about where the parts came from. 9/16" they came from 80's stuff. 1/2" and somebody got creative with GM or dodge parts.

There was no factory DRW 4x4 F350 until 1980. This should be a sticky somewhere!!! We have seen many conversions, some by NAPCO and others by people who probably should not be allowed to use tools.

I've seen a couple of dentside wreckers that were DRW 4x4's. F-350's at that. At least the badges were F-350.

Did NAPCO build wreckers as well? Both of the trucks had Holmes 440 wrecker beds on them.

As far as I know, NAPCO only did the 4x4 conversions. There are also some 4x4s out there that are SRW trucks with dual wheels swapped.
