Re: Got a New Job!!!!
Good afternoon Jeremy!
Congratulations on your new job! If your orientation's similar to mine, perhaps you'll agree that the only way to take real pleasure in your work is to go beyond the demands and expectations of the job, both in terms of the quality and the quantity of your work.
In my opinion, men who do what they're paid to do and no more are slaves to their jobs, while men who do more than they're paid to do are free. I believe that freedom's the key to the enjoyment of work, and freedom is caused by responsibility.
Naturally, it follows that selecting a job fitting to your inclinations makes doing more than you're paid to do much more feasible!
I wish you the best Jeremy!

Re: Got a New Job!!!!
, I'm happy to happy to hear it! I'm still having a hard time finding a job, seems that either the place I go to apply at isn't hiring or it's a place with an ABC permit and I need to be 16 to work there . Hopefully I'll be able to land a job before the end of summer, right now I'm mowing a few lawns but progress is slow on the bump and I'd like to make a few more bucks . Anyways I'm sure you'll really enjoy your new job! I don't think there are too many jobs that would be cooler to have than working at a scrapyard , that and discounted parts are a good thing too .

Re: Got a New Job!!!!
Today was my first day working and it was really fun. Today somebody came in with a Mack Model B with no rear frame and the loader would not lift the heavy front end so we lift the back end and pull it and i was steering the mack and i turned the wheel to far and ran over a wrecked toyota's hood. My boss just laughed at me. My whole job today was to clean metal and help customers.

One thing about working with scrap, you need to be up to date on your tetanus shot. You're going to get cuts & scrapes. It a given, just a matter of when.
The welding shop I worked at required an up to date tetanus vaccination

Re: Got a New Job!!!!
Glad to hear you like your new gig. On a serious note though be careful. There are many, many ways to get hurt processing scrap. Along with cuts and burns things like moving machinery and piles of metals can kill you. You're in an environmentally friendly industry however mother nature can throw in hazards too. Things like mud wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, rats, snakes and ground hogs love to turn junk cars into critter Hiltons.

Re: Got a New Job!!!!
I dont think I could work at a scrap yard...
I would get in trouble.
Machine tools in half decent shape? Comming home.
Old tractor with a unstuck motor? Ditto
F600? Ditto again.
I would have yard looking like Sanford & Son live here.
