i have most of a very heavy duty four legged wheeled engine stand. but it is missing the arms to bolt an engine to it. at first my thoughts were of some square tubing with pipe welded to it for the bolts to hold the engine. well tonight i saw a engine stand with some thick flat bar and pipe welded to it for the engine bolts.
what i was was wanting help with was how long do i make the flat bar? to be universal for many engines?
my plate that the arms would come off of does have many hole sin it. so i could just make the arms Fe lenght and then move the arms around to make them fit any engine i guess. but i didnt want to hassle with that extra work. what do you think about that too?

Re: making a engine stand
i guess what i am thinking is that i want the engine center to the plate so it will be right when i roll the engine over.
