Looked at a 70-72(not sure the owner says 72

Post by rjewkes »

Well been thinking hard about buying used cars and trucks for parts and to sell the parts. i looked at a 70-72 with perfect front clip and cab, the bed has been can openered. Found a 360 with a 4 speed behind it in this truck, no camera so no picks but everything that is wrong with my truck is in near perfect condition. with a locked up motor though, he only wants 450.00. so i may do that and swap my motor and trans over. then part up my rusted old bucket.

Might not be too bad of a deal if everything on the front end is in real good shape. How does the right fender apron look and the core support too?

Sounds pretty good to me. Those two parts will run you over 500 bucks to buy from a catalog and they can be hard to find out in the wild. The easiest way I know of to tell if it is a 72 is by the grill. If it has plastic inserts with one vertical bar in the middle of each insert then it is a 72 grill at least. Other than that I don't know if you can tell unless you run the vin. I have a 72 and a 70 and my brother has a 71 but I haven't looked that close to see if there are any more differences.
