F600 dash tak drives.

Post by flywheel »

I hear a bit about this, Why don't people go get a dis out of a old truck? or convert a dit out of 60's chricraft? i have a 63 Chris craft with 2 427 Fe fords and they both have tak drives on them, no vac advance. but that should not be hard t fix. Anybody try this?

I think both the heavy truck (361) and 427 dizzies are different than FE.

the Ft distibutors will not fit in the Fe engines. that is why the cable drive tachs arent a good choice to use in the light duty trucks most are restoring/building.

Because the mechanical drive tachs don't go high enough for 99% of engines. They were made for the 4000 redline of the truck motors.

I think that that is the case in a dual engine equipped boat, and in that case only one turns opposite though. Atleast that is the way I remember it . Not telling you that you're wrong figured I'd put in my :2cents:!

Twin inboards engines have one engine thats turns backwards, to use the dizzy you would only have to change the drive gear.
