Post by sacramento_ford »

well, im kinda into this hot august nights i seen on you tube. i would love to restore it, how much am i looking at front to back, trucks pretty much complete ,chrome is duddy, id like to replace all trim, good new paint. tires are ok , replace brakes and rear axel, windows trim and some interioir, interior i can do myself, id like frame coated, to me the most importany part is a good tranny and bitchen engine with headers with a tri power set up, ,,,

Restoration is way too broad of a word.
Restoration as tear down to BARE frame rails, and buy all new parts, or restoration as repaint, some new parts, cleaning it up.

For a real restoration, i'd say over 10,000 easy.

i have to agree with ryan and everyone else a full on resto is gonna be costly. i made aspreadsheet today for all the parts that i have bought so far that totalled 2500 and the list of parts to buy totalled another 1500-2200. and this does not include paint or the rebuild on the tranny or the engine. not trying to get you down any.

Come to think of it... you're in sacramento, you're probably 30 minutes away from me.
I have a restored '69 f100 2wd frame that I need to get rid of. Stripped to bare metal and coated in POR-15. I have stripped/POR-15'd rear springs with new bushings to go with it and a restored underbed tank/skid. That would be a good start for your restoration. I want practically nothing for it....

Glad I'm not up there. I replaced everything but the rear drums (had them ground).

Rear brake kit
Shoes
rubber hoses
Seals
Cylinders

Front drums
shoes
brake kit
cylinders
rubber hose
bearings

Total was about $450.

I guess the price would go up significantly if I were to buy prebent brake lines, but coated line runs about $25 plus the couplings. I didn't need to replace emergency brake cables.

I am into my truck, including purchase price to about $4000. This includes all the body parts needed to do the job, suspension, brakes. I have not started on the engine, so I don't know what that will run. I figure that the small stuff, interior and wiring is where the price tag will go up quite a bit. It depends on whether you can make the stuff you have work by cleaning it up or if you have to buy new, and what type of resto you are doing. To bring it back to original the nickel and dime stuff will be a real killer.
My plan is to do the entire body and engine, get it back together and then do the little bits to give it a real clean look over the next several years.
Of course this is all without paying the labor (me). If you need to have this done for you I would figure double and then some. :2cents:
