exhaust

Post by Mancar1 »

I am in the process of installing Thrush glasspacks on the 68. Took the whole system off both sides so I can clean it up and put new gaskets on. The mufflers are all rotted out, but the rest of the system is good. Lot of work, but it is a great feeling when you do it yourself.
Down the road a bit I plan on installing oversize exhaust. I was thinking 2 1/2". Eng is a 390, truck is a Camper Special. Sound ok?

I just put 2 1/2" thrush glass-packs on my '68 and they sound great. I used a Jegs header-back kit with an H-pipe & turned them out in front of the rear tires. Unbolt the collectors & two hangers & the whole system comes off in one piece 8)

Thanks, yea I will do the 2 1/2" latter. I do the fix/upgrade/mods as my piggy bank allows. But, having fun. Life is a banquet and every days a feast.

Nice! I'd love to hear how that sounds. Mine is similar except I have Hookers and the pipes go to the back with some cone tips. I told the guy I wanted loud and obnoxius, but I'm sure I have nothing in yours.
